Shattered Vows

Rate this book
Once upon a time, I thought I’d found my happy ever after. Until she ruined it all.

I’d been on the hunt for four long years, and I finally found her.

I planned the perfect revenge. Kidnapping Rapsody on the day she was set to marry another man and forcing her to face my wrath while trapped in the confines of my family’s gothic manor.

Despite my desire to punish her, there is still an undeniable pull between us. But as the walls of the manor close in around us, we both have to confront the truth. Can we trust each other, or will my dark past consume us both?

SHATTERED VOWS is a dark contemporary romance that weaves together the themes of desire and redemption and is a Rapunzel reimagining with the following tropes: age gap, anti-hero, gothic romance, secret society, forced proximity, opposites attract, enemies to lovers, morality chain, billionaire, and second chance.

╰┈➤KITTY KATS CRAZY ABOUT BOOKS

'S𝐇A𝐓T𝐄R𝐄D V𝐎W𝐒' Is the second full length gothic romance book within the 'Midnight Manor' series by author P. Rayne. Spoken in dual POV's. This story is about Kol and Rapsody.

Really enjoyed the first book and couldn't wait to dive back into this gothic fairy re-telling Rapunzel, once it landed on my ipad I dived right in...

These two had a whirlwind of a first encounter, they met, sparks flew, they fell hard and fast.

He was on his last deployment
She lived a life of solitary

She's lived the life like a convent girl, barely stepping foot outside of the apartment, where her mother has full reign over her. The only time she's had any sort of freedom was when her mother was briefly admitted in the hospital, it was also that time when she'd met Kol.

Then within a blink of an eye she vanished without a trace leaving him hurt and bewildered. It's taken him exactly three long years to find her again and gloves are off he's come in with a thirst for revenge.

📚'𝑰'𝒎 𝒈𝒐𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒐 𝒎𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝒔𝒖𝒓𝒆 𝒔𝒉𝒆 𝒇𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒎𝒆. 𝑰'𝒎 𝒈𝒐𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒐 𝒓𝒖𝒊𝒏 𝒉𝒆𝒓. 𝑻𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝑰'𝒎 𝒈𝒐𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒐 𝒕𝒐𝒔𝒔 𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒂𝒔𝒊𝒅𝒆 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒐𝒖𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒎𝒚 𝒍𝒊𝒇𝒆.'

Kol and Rapsody were as different as chalk and cheese, but together they were perfection, he allowed her to spread her wings and experience many new things, she broke down his walls allowing him to open upen up like never before.

Like the previous book these brothers have unorthodox ways of getting their girls, by kidnapping them and once they claim them, these tough guys turn into obsessive marshmallows with the girls running rings around them. This had many twists and turns which I loved, I'm really enjoying this series, unique, easy to get into, relatable characters, spooky manor vibes, and I'm here for it all. 65451226-2019570151487824-6157464638251335680-n

Very engaging! Really enjoying this series!!

I love how they subtly followed Rapunzel in this one! I was so intrigued by Kol and the lengths he was willing to go to for his family. I knew he had some secret pain and meeting Rhapsody, the woman he blames for it all, was bound to bring out some secrets.

Rhapsody is about to get married and Kol is NOT going to let that happen. No, he steps in and kidnaps her, of course. And what better revenge than to make her fall for him again and then rip it all the way.

Yeah, that will go well, Kol. Get me the popcorn! I'm hooked.

This was a fast paced, spicy, angsty second chance romance. A little bit of a dark edge and a whole lot of a good time. I can't wait for the next installment.

I listened to this via audio and it was a duet effort from Tor Thom & Muffy Newtown. They were both perfection!

This is another can't miss series of 2024 with the addition of a Rapunzel inspired retelling. Rapsody and Kol had me sucked in from the beginning with their intense past, to plans of vengeance, and of course that steamy chemistry. Rapsody fell into her Rapunzel role beautifully, full of innocence as she navigates a world of lies and unknowns. I really enjoyed Kol and the darkness he brings. He's the moody, mysterious brother that has a sweet spot for his prey. We get to revisit our favorite steamy and secretive club while also seeing these characters build their emotional connection. Both characters grew in ways they didn't expect, and im really relieved they didn't repeat past mistakes. This felt like such a seamless addition to the series and made me even more eager to learn Nero's secrets.

A dark Rapunzel retelling? Sign me up! I am a retelling addict and I feel Rapunzel doesn't get much chance. And what a way to execute this! This Rapunzel is getting kidnapped from the church on the day of her marriage and getting locked in a tower of a gothic haunted mansion by a morally grey billionaire alpha hero seeking revenge. Spark fly. Hearts break. Wounds heal. And I am not ready to get down from this scorching hot and beautifully emotions rollercoaster called Shattered Vows by P. Rayne.

This is the second standalone set in Midnight Manor and I am so excited to be back with Voss brothers. They are all damaged and lost but Kol is in a different level. His time in military set him apart. His presence in every page is so powerful. He is a must read book boyfriend if you love jealous possessive alpha heroes. He has demons like grief and anger about the past but he also loves deeply and fiercely and intensely. Rapsody is the one who got inside his apparently dead cold heart. Even though he feels that she betrayed and abandoned him at the court house, he never stopped loving her and that's why his devious plan went sideways.

Rapsody has lived an extremely sheltered life. Her mother put her in a cage of restrictions, fear and manipulations. Falling for Kol was her first taste at freedom but her mother snatched that away by playing mind games. And this version of Kol is unknown to her. She is sweet and innocent whole Kol is angry and enraged and twisted. But she has a healing touch for his heart. The best part about Kol is he accepts his dark side. And the best part about Rapsody is she still loves him. It was so spicy specially all the sex club scenes. Rapsody's innocence didn't stop her from being adventurous and daring. Kol didn't expect her to embrace his dark and kinky side so openly. It just proved that they are perfect for each other.

The story has a suspense part regarding Rapsody's mother and a slightly paranormal vibe considering the tragic history of the manor. The bromance is epic. It was a beautiful balance of sinful, heartaching and explosive feels.

I am loving this Midnight Manor dark retelling series. This is book two of the interconnected series called Shattered Vows. It is a Rapunzel retelling and was so well done. There were so many references to the story of Rapunzel in this story and they were woven in so perfectly. My favorite is the lanterns!! I feel like both Kol and Rhapsody had such amazing character growth in this story from the first page to the end. It’s fun, spicy, dark romance and a really fun retelling of Rapunzel. The audiobook was so well done! Tor Thom and Muffy Newtown did so well bringing these characters to life. I was very entertained and enjoyed listening to this story.

Shattered Vows is the second book in the Midnight Manor series and is a modern Rapunzel retelling.
Kol and Rapsody are the definition of opposites attract and are absolutely perfect. Lover to enemies back to lovers and ohhhh what a ride filled with angst and undeniable chemistry.
Rapsody spent all her life sheltered and honestly held back by her mother. Who would have thought being kidnapped by the man who she left at the alter would give her the freedom she wanted?
Love, love, absolutely love this series!! It just keeps getting better and I’m excited to see what unhinged brilliance Nero’s story will bring.

This one was just…okay.

I really liked the beginning 50% of this. Kol intrigued me a lot from the first book so I was excited to have his book.

I liked the dynamic between the couple a lot, but then there was a whole revenge plot going on that pretty rapidly fizzled out into just falling in love. The chemistry and the sex club flowed well.

The second half of the book felt very rushed and all the plot twists thrown in were a bit mind boggling considering the level of security this family is supposed to have. I really loved the gothic setting in the first book, but it felt like little bits were randomly thrown in this book and weirdly made it feel like a PNR at times. I also forgot this was a mafia until the ending conveniently reminded me. At this point I don’t feel the need to continue the series. Overall it was a quick, decent read.

Loved. Loved. I adore a retelling (I mean come on - a good fairytale inspired spicy story 🤤) and this one was perfect. This is the second book in this series and inspired by Rapunzel. I loved the similarities between this story and the inspiration story but with that darker, gothic tone added in.

Kol and Rapsody are total opposites but perfect for each other. The characters were amazing there was the perfect balance of past and present to keep me interested but enough to fill in the gaps. The side characters make just the right amount of appearances and set up beautifully for the series to continue. Definitely one to read!

As always, check for TWs and happy reading!

Sweet, innocent Rapsody has a naughty side, and now that I’ve discovered it, it’s impossible to ignore.

📚 Book Review 📚
Shattered Vows is a loose Rapunzel retelling. I really enjoyed it. It was fun to see how the authors tied the well-loved story into a contemporary setting with secret societies, possessive men, and dark themes. I found it to be an exciting and spicy read.

This is the second of the Voss brothers’ tales. Kol is just as OTT J/P as his brother, Asher, and falls just as hard for his woman, despite himself. What started as a kidnapping and revenge plot quickly devolved into love and an even greater obsession.

I had mixed feelings towards Rapsody. The naive virgin trope is not one of my favorite tropes—I much prefer a stronger character—but Rapsody’s upbringing under her heavy-handed mother left no other option. She had to be naïve and untouched to fit her past; nothing else would have made sense.

This is a medium/fast-burn and spicy MF romance with a lot of sexual exploration.

Shattered Vows can be read as a complete standalone.

If you love dark retellings, this is the book for you.

🎧 Audiobook Review 🎧
The book itself was exciting, but it’s even better in audio!

I loved the duet-style narration by Tor Thom and Muffy Newton. They were perfect fits for Kol, Rapsody, and the secondary characters. They made the spicy scenes pop and gave life to the characters.

This is an easy book to get lost in.

Shattered Vows is another hit from the dark side of this duo. If, like me, you don’t usually read fairytale retellings, I would highly recommend you ignore that thought. Koi and Rapsody’s story consumed me from start to finish.
“Shattered Vows” is another hit from the darker side of this duo. If you, like me, don’t usually read fairy tale retellings, I highly recommend you set aside that hesitation. Kol and Rhapsody’s story captivated me from start to finish.

Kol is bent on revenge against the woman who left his life without so much as a note. He’s determined to uncover the answers to the questions that have haunted him for years, and then he plans to turn the tables on her. Rhapsody has spent her life under her mother’s watchful eye, doing what she was told to keep her mother content. It was evident early on that her mother’s actions did nothing more than stifle the person Rhapsody truly was. Watching her open up and explore her surroundings with a freedom she never had was delightful. She was the perfect mix of sweet innocence and sassy adventurer.

Kol embodies the essence of dark and dangerous, yet he’s surprisingly sweet in his own revenge-filled, anti-hero heart. He may not have allowed many into his circle, but those he did were fortunate to have this man in their corner. He was fiercely loyal and showed no mercy when it came to protecting those he loved.

The chemistry between Kol and Rhapsody was intense from the outset, and with every interaction, it grew increasingly potent. Kol may have persuaded himself that a single motive guided his actions, while Rapsody might have believed she was staying because of the freedom. In reality, they were both deceiving themselves; there was never any chance they wouldn’t evolve from kidnapping and revenge to an inevitable endgame. Their connection was explosively physical, but it was so much more than that. The intensity permeated every page; they were, without a doubt, meant to be.

“Shattered Vows” is proof that we all still crave fairy tales, especially when they’re dark and spicy. This tale of a billionaire bad boy and a sheltered good girl leads to a deliciously spicy journey. Add in a secret society, a dash of angst, sprinkles of emotion, a kidnapping, a hint of revenge, and a tragically tortured lead, and you have an irresistible, perfectly spicy, adult romance retelling of Rapunzel. I’m eagerly anticipating what’s next for the Voss brothers!

4.5, I can't get enough, Stars!

After reading Moonlit Thorns, I knew without a doubt, that I had to get my hands on the next installment, ASAP. And believe me when I tell you, this series keeps getting better and better!

Shattered Vows is the second installment of the Midnight Manor series and follows the story of Kol and Rapsody. Once upon a time, Kol and Rapsody fell hard and fell fast. But, Rapsody isn’t like the other girls. She’s lived an incredibly sheltered life and when their love is put to the test, Rapsody disappears and ruins everything. Now, years later, Kol is on a mission for revenge and kidnapping Rapsody seems like the perfect plan…

Shattered Vows sucked in from the very first page. Rapsody is the perfect representation of Rapunzel. She’s innocent and sheltered. She only knows the life her mother has given her and has never questioned it until Kol. Kol is his own brand of darkness. He’s intense and not afraid to go after the things he wants. Together, these two shouldn’t work but their connection is all-consuming and I loved seeing Kol and Rapsody navigate through all the hurdles P. Rayne threw at them.

P. Rayne has completely knocked it out of the park with Shattered Vows. The characters are the perfect mix of dark and light. They are complex and intriguing. You’ll find yourself utterly consumed, desperate for answers, and ultimately, will lose track of time because you can’t stop reading.

If you’re a fan of fairytale re-tellings, you won’t want to miss Shattered Vows. This modern-day, Rapunzel re-telling is filled with action, suspense, angst, and danger. It more than delivers with its secrets, revelations, sexy good times, and of course romance.

Let me just tell you this book did not disappoint, if you read the first one and were hyped up by Asher, this one will, for sure, keeps the pace of these unhinged Voss brothers. P. Rayne wrote a great story, not falling on clichés as sometimes happen with retelling.
This is the second book from the Midnight Manor series, that fallows 4 brothers, Asher, Kol, Obsidian and Nero.
This is the story of Kol and Rapsody, and it’s a dark retelling of Rapunzel, and it’s so so so, good.
And since I read this in Moonlit Thorns, I knew I had to read this book, fast.
“Apparently yesterday was her wedding day. He may or may not have kidnapped her from the church.”
This book kidnaps you from the start, my heart had its strings pulled tight from the first chapter, and I was just biting my nails and turning pages and didn’t want to stop because I had to know all.
Kol is just a beautiful, tortured soul, that just wants to be loved, and he thought he had found it when he first met Rapsody, but her mother got in the way.
And all through the book we feel his pain and his battle with himself trying to fight the love he feels for Rapsody.
Rapsody is a beautiful naïve girl, due to her uber sheltered life, that doesn’t know anything of the world, but with Kol she will discover all its magnificent bright colors, including the morally gray one.

This book is full of tension between the characters and mystery, and it will submerge you in this wonderful universe.
It has great character development and great plot, it’s a story that will keep you raped in it until the end.

Tropes:

Kidnapping

We are back in Midnight Manor! I dived into the book the minute it was on my Kindle. I loved Annabelle and Asher, but WOW, Kol and Rapsody's story was perfection. This series is addictive. This is the second book in the Midnight Manor series and is inspired by Rapunzel.

I loved every minute of my reading. I laugh at the unplanned kidnapping. Kol usually has control, but his pride has gotten the best of him. Kol is broody, possessive, and twisted. He is fiercely loyal and shows no mercy when it comes to protecting those he loves. My heart ached for him when he taught people will always leave him and that he isn’t worth loving. I loved how Kol is eager to have all her first time. Rapsody is a character easily loveable. I loved how excited she was about new adventures after being too much shelter. She makes her own choices.

They are the total opposite of each other, but they fit together perfectly. Their connection was explosively physical, but it was so much more than that. Without knowing they give each other a second chance, and I loved how it was written. How they slowly share each other dark secrets. And god, the tension, the spice was all in!

From the start to the finish, I was so invested in the novel, that I didn’t see the plot twist at the end.

This is the second standalone set in Midnight Manor and I am so excited to be back. The first book was a Beauty and the Beast retelling and I absolutely loved it as well. The Voss billionaire brothers are all damaged and lost but Kol.... He is a different level. He has military experience and it makes his alpha possessive dark and broody ness so powerful. He kidnaps Rhapsody after she had left him before their wedding years ago. Despite his *hate* and hurt from that he's never been able to get her out of his mind and heart.

The audio for this was fantastic and when I tell you I listened to it straight through in one sitting! I am absolutely obsessed with this series and can't wait for the next one Midnight Whispers, a Cinderella retelling!

Kol and Rapsody were EVERYTHING. I thought to myself that there was no way they could be anymore swoon worthy than Asher and Annabelle but I was wrong.

Kol Voss is one of 4 Voss brothers and is hell bent on finding and seeking his revenge on Rapsody for leaving him. He vows that once he gets her, he won’t fall in love with her (yeah, okay) and that he will break her heart the way his was broken.

But as the story unfolds, he realizes that Rapsody is irresistible and his love for her is all consuming. He would do anything for her (and does). Rapsody is innocent and a bit naive, thanks to her over bearing mother sheltering her for her whole life. Kol gives her the freedom she has always sought, encourages her to find her own path in life and to explore the things she’s always wanted to.

While these two are completely opposite in every way, the chemistry is undeniable. Idk what P. Rayne has sprinkled into this series with the Voss brothers but I am eating it up! I can’t wait for book 3! 🤤🤤

The spice was spicing, especially with our FMC being a virgin (literally one of my favorite “tropes”).

this was nothing like i expected from what little was known about kol in the previous book i gathered this would be a second chance romance, but their backstory was surreal to me. who would have imagined, boy obsessed with revenge kol was actually just a betrayed boy obsessed who actually felt deeply? his demons were haunting. the way the authors weaved this into a retelling of rapunzel was actually mind blowing. in my opinion, that element was better in this book than in the first. every minute detail spoke to the bigger picture and by the time i connected all the dots i was around. furthermore, the darkness in this book was very reminiscent of mafia academy, and not only that but the little easter eggs and cameos came for my heart, making me miss it even more.

This series just gets better and better!! I thought nothing could possibly top the romance and chemistry in Moonlight Thorns between Asher and Annabelle but Kol and Rapsodys chemistry was even better in my opinion! And now that I’ve finished this one I’m on the edge of my seat to see what’s going to happen next!! So if you’re on the hunt for a dark romance between a naive but open minded MFC, a brutally grumpy billionaire MMC, their second chance at love, a crazy plot twist, many a new and swoon-worthy experiences, and just the right amount of spice than look no further because P. Rayne has delivered!

After four long years Kol has found the women he’s been searching for and while sure that sounds romantic it’s anything but because Kol has one thing on his mind… revenge. Rapsody on the other hand has spent four long years questioning the decisions she mad that led her and Kol down this path. And while all seems lost between the two of them, a few heart wrenching confessions may just lead them to a new road.

I absolutely adored everything about Kol and Rapsodys story! I was interested in their back story when it was briefly brought up in Moonlight Thorns and when I found out they were getting their own story in Shattered Vows I rushed to read it! And boy oh boy am I glad I did, because their chemistry sizzled from page one! Rapsody has been kept sheltered by and overbearing mother her whole life, so when Kol offered to show her the world she jumped at the chance… that is of course until someone interfered and ruined their chance at a HEA. Shattering both Rapsodys and Kols hearts in the proces. Even through her naivety I loved Rapsody which is rare cuz I normally am not a fan of overly naive characters, but I think Rapsodys open mindedness and zest to experience life is what kept her interesting! Not to mention she had no problem bearing her teeth when needed. Even enough everything she went through though she was a ray of sunshine! Of course a ray of sunshine can’t be without her storm cloud or in Kols case a whole thunderstorm. Even still I’d find it hard for anyone not to love Kol. After his own childhood, Kol finally found his sunshine only to have it viciously ripped away from him! It made him doubt everything and everyone but when he find his spot of sunshine again well let’s just say you won’t find a more possessive book boyfriend than Kol. And together they were simply amazing! Even when they detested each other the chemistry had sparks flying!

Honestly this series has been a favorite dark romance of mine this year, and I can’t wait to see what comes next!

HAPPY READING 📖

This is book two in the Midnight Manor series but can be read as a stand alone since the focus is on different MCs.

Shattered Vows is nothing like I never read before since it is a dark romance with a bit of heavy content and contains a bit rough language so you must be 18+ to read it. When I started to read this book I didn't knew what I had signed up for since I haven't read the first one, Moonlit Thorns and now after I finished it I can only say wow and omg what did I just read.

The story was easy to follow and P Rayne had me literally hooked from the beginning until the end that have me longing for the next book in this series.
When it comes to the MCs I found them easy to feel something for and to understand why they are the way they are was easy. Their development journey was to my liking and I really did enjoyed reading it.

I recommend this book to readers that either enjoys the dark romance genre or are curious of this type of genre especially if you are a fan of retellings and Rapunzel since this is kind of a Rapunzel retelling.

As a newbie to this genre I feel like this book was a good introduction to the genre and I can't wait to start reading Moonlit Thorns. Now I'm waiting with anticipation for book three, Midnight Whispers, to be released because I have a feeling that it's gonna be even better if possible.

Tropes:

Forced Proximity
Enemies to Lovers
Bad Boy x Good Girl
Alpha Hero
Opposites Attract
Grumpy x Sunshine
Secret Society

CW/TW: Death, death of parent (off-page before the story begins), murder, gun violence, alcohol, discussion of childhood physical abuse (off page), Knife play, sex club, stabbing, drug use, kidnapping and captivity.

Kol and Rapsody's story is a dark Rapunzel retelling that you won't want to miss. I fell in love with these two right away, in fact, I had just finished listening to MOONLIT THORNS and dove right into this book because I couldn't wait to see who would be the one to crack Kol's tough exterior.

Kol met Rapsody just before his final tour in the Military, they fell in love hard and fast and were set to get married but she never showed up at the courthouse and left town without a trace. Fast forward four years and Kol has found her. It's not as easy as that, nope he goes and kidnaps her right from the church as she's about to get married to someone else!

Second book in the Midnight Manor series and I enjoyed it a lot!!!
Rapsody is a shattered 23yo who only wants freedom from her very controlling mother and for that she is willing to marry a man she does not love. In her weeding day, minutes before entering the church she is kidnapped by no one then Kol Voss. The man who broke her heart four years ago.
Kol Voss spent fours years searching for the woman who left him in the altar four years ago, the only woman he ever loved and now that he found her and he will do anything to gain his revenge and fill the hate he feels towards her. But things are not that simple for this two souls cause it’s obvious that external forces were doing everything to separate them in the past and will try it again now. Will love be able to win or this evil will separate these two lovebirds again?

The story was a little rushed, especially the end. I wanted more of Rapdosy confronting her mother and more about her true family. But it truly enjoyed the romance and Rapdsody’s development and discovering her freedom.

In a desperate move, Kol kidnaps her on her wedding day and locks her up in Midnight Manor until he can figure out his next move. Little does Rapsody know, he's seeking revenge for the pain she caused him years ago, and he won't rest until he gets it.
Shattered Vows had me hooked from the very start. This is the second book in the Midnight Manor series and it was just as good as the first one!
Rapsody is the perfect representation of Rapunzel – innocent, sheltered, and never questioning her mother's decisions, unless that's until Kol enters the picture. I loved how excited she was about sharing new experiences with him after a lifetime of shelter. Kol, with his brooding, possessive nature, is fiercely loyal when it comes to protecting his loved ones, especially when it comes to Rapsody. They're complete opposites, yet they complement each other so well. Without realizing it, they give each other a second chance, and I loved how it was written.
Overall, I really enjoyed this, and I can't wait to see what P. Rayne brings us next!
Thank you Valentine PR and the authors for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is book TWO in the Midnight Manor Series and I loved it. This was a dark and spicy romance with a retelling of Rapunzel. it was everything I could have asked for in book 2.

Kol Voss has been looking for his runaway bride, Rapsody for years, well he’s found her! And she's getting married to another man… but before she can say I DO… Kol kidnaps her… does he still love her or is this some sort of sick revenge game…?

Overall this was a an intriguing story. Fast and easy to read. I enjoyed all the twists and turns that the book had. There’s a lot of secrets behind the gates of Manor and we are just scratching the surface.

I have loved everything that these two ladies have written and can’t wait to get my hands on book 3

Thank you to Valentine Pr for the advanced copy .

♡ Happy release beautiful ♡

♡ So when this book landed on my kindle, it instantly became a drop everything and read moment. !! Duh

♡ I gave this read 5 stars but it deserves a million more!!

♡ I was captivated from the first page to the very last, honeyyyy you need to grab this book for yourself and read it. Trust me you won’t wanna finish it.🤭

♡ It had everything, the spice, the twists and turns, the secrets that will have you gasping and a whole lot of chemistry.

♡ Shattered vows is a loser retailing of Rapunzel and that aspect made this book everything.

♡ Kol and Rhapsody were an amazing ride l didn’t want to get off. They took me to a world that was filled with suspense, secret societies and all the toe-curling and wall-climbing fun you can imagine.

♡ This was quite an exciting arc and thank you a million for it

I have really been enjoying this series. It’s so hard to find really good fairytale retellings, and Shattered Vows is a dark Repunzel retelling. I haven’t seen many, if any retelling for Repunzel so it was definitely a unique read. There was a third act breakup as the plot either, so that was another plus.

I was sucked right in given the glance at Rhapsody and Kol’s past from Moonlit Thorns. Kol is dark, moody, ex military, and holds a vengeance against Rapsody after she left him at the alter several years prior. Rapsody has always been very sheltered and confined, to the point where she wasn’t allowed to do or experience anything, under the tight control of her mother. Together both characters have phenomenal character growth.

I forgot this was a fairytale reimagining until I got to the end. But, it was great!

Shattered Vows is the second book in the Midnight Manor series, but it can be read as a standalone.

Rhapsody has been sheltered her whole life. Her mother made her think everyone was a danger and kept her pretty much hidden.

Kol was broody, moody, and a little dangerous and damaged. He took Rhapsody from her wedding, before she made it to the altar. He wanted revenge on her for leaving him.

Ah, I was sucked into this story! Kol was angry and hurt, but it was obvious he still had feelings for Rhapsody, feelings that went beyond revenge.

These two slowly discovered more about each other and themselves. And wow, I wasn’t expecting the slight twist at the end (but like I said, that’s because I forgot this was a Rapunzel retelling). After that, it all made sense.

Anyway, I’m really enjoying these dark fairytale reimaginings, and ai can’t wait for the next Voss brother’s book.

This a a darkish modern Rapunzel retelling with a slightly morally grey hero and a very sheltered heroine.
I love the nods to Rapunzel and the spin the authors put on it. It is a fast paced, engaging and entertaining story.
Kol and Rapsody had a sweet beginning years before the story begins that did not end well. Kol has been shattered by her standing him up, he is so obsessed, he kidnaps her on her wedding day to another man.
I love both characters, I enjoyed seeing them both open up to each other. I loved Rapsody’s excitement at all the things she gets to experience for the first time. Things most of us take for granted.
It’s a spicy romance with some k!nk and a lot of heart. There’s a bit of mystery and secrets. There’s danger towards the end and things come to light that shock Rapsody.
It’s a really fun and steamy story with interesting characters. I’m really enjoying this series of interconnected standalone’s.

Shattered Vows is Book 2 in the Midnight Manor Series. I couldn’t wait to read this book, before I even finished Book 1. Love the Voss Brothers even more after this book.

We all like to think there’s that one person out there for each of us. For Kol it is Rapsody, but she ran, and he has spent years searching for her.

This is a dark Rupunzel style storyline. Rapsody, our Repunzel, and is kidnapped by Kol from her wedding and locked away in a tower that is Midnight Manor.

Looking forward to Nero’s story.

This series is a dark billionaire romance that twists traditional fairytales. In Moonlit Manor, we get a beauty and the Beast Retelling, and in Shattered Vows, we get a Rapunsel story!

I loved the continuation in this story. Not only do we get to see cameos of Asher and his wife from the first book, but we get a little more on all the Voss brothers. We get to see how Obsidian and Kol have bonded over the years and how close they are! All members of this family have experienced pain and loss, and how they handle their grief together is really interesting.

Next, Rapsody enters the picture. Well, she is kidnapped and given more freedom than she has ever known. Seeing Rapsody grow and thrive in this environment was so heartwarming, and it definitely set off warning bells about her past, and I couldn't wait to find out her story!
