Morristown Central School names 2024 class leaders

MORRISTOWN – Three students have been named class leaders for the graduating Class of 2024 at Morristown Central School.

This year’s Valedictorian is Ava Johnson. Ava has earned a cumulative average of 95.96, and she will graduate with a Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation, as well as completing twenty-seven college credits. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, Yearbook Committee, and also works part time after school hours. Ava serves in leadership roles such as Vice President of the Yearbook Committee and Treasurer for the Class of 2024. She received the North Country Academic All Star award. Ava will be attending SUNY Oswego, where she will pursue a degree in Finance. Ava is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jeffrey and Andria Johnson.

This year's Salutatorian is Alexys Denesha. Alexys has earned a cumulative average of 95.56, and she will graduate with a Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation, along with completing twenty-one college credits. She is a member of the National Honor Society, Student Council, Yearbook Committee, and High School Band. Alexys serves in leadership roles as Vice President of the Class of 2024, President of the Yearbook Committee, and Student Council Co-President. Alexys participates in the MCS Trap Team, cheerleading, and is a junior volunteer firefighter for the Brier Hill Fire Department. She will be attending Alfred University to major in Early Education. Alexys is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dustin and Christina Denesha.

This year’s Outstanding Career and Technical Education student is Walker Belile. Walker has earned a cumulative average of 93.32, and he will graduate with a Regents Diploma with Advanced Designation, CTE Criminal Justice, along with twenty-four college credits. Walker is a member of the National Honor Society, the National Technical Honor Society, and the Athletic Association. He has been Class President for the last five years, and he is also President of the National Honor Society, the Athletic Association, and high school band. He is a Captain of his basketball team, a member of the Morristown Volunteer Fire Department, and a NYS American Legion Boys State Alum. Walker also received the New York State 21st Congressional District nomination. He will be attending Norwich University for a degree in criminal justice, and he will be part of their Army ROTC program. Walker is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph and Sarah Belile.
