Dbahn trains

I have booked 3 return train Journeys from Munich in June and i have received notices that i can use any train for 2 of these journeys, so my question is, Can i just turn up and show the original ticket on the app and then get on the train?.

On one return journey leaving at 03:13 which includes a transfer, i cannot even find a area on the ticket itinerary page that gives me an alternative train to book.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Regards mungled

Ps i am using the db app and this shows no alternative trains.

If the train you have booked a savings fare ticket for is cancelled or delayed by more than 20 minutes your ticket becomes flexible that day. You don’t have to take the alternative suggested by the app, you can take any other train that gets you to your destination. If the app doesn’t show an alternative look it up yourself. It will probably not be as convenient as the original, though.

Unfortunately this happens a lot these days with upcoming closures of important routes due to construction works.

Regional trains are always flexible (must be on the same day, though). Long-distance trains (ICE and IC/EC) are not when you have booked a saver fare ticket. Maybe that is the reason why your tickets seem to show different information.

You never show the ticket to get on the train. You just get on, making sure you have a valid ticket with you. You show it to the conductor when they come to your place. Sometimes, they don't get around to it. Don't worry if this happens, it doesn't matter. But also, don't assume that they will not come, because usually (at least half of the time), they will. And if you don't have a valid ticket then, it will cost you EUR 60.

Thank you both for your replies.

My first train is Super Sparpreis 2nd class, ICE 724 and with a change onto a non ICE train and so i selected an alternative, and this message appeared, ! please check whether your ticket is valid on this selected alternative. I cannot find how to do this.

The other one is a DB Ticket Euro 2024 2nd class, which is a local train and change onto a ICE train and this says use any train, i press the ? and it states, you can now also use your ticket for other trains > Read more, and i press this and it is all in German, which defeats the point.

Thanks again mungled.
