Vikrant Massey has been impressing audiences with his diverse roles in films, including his recent release '12th Fail'. The film directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra proved to be a hit at the box office and also got immense critical acclaim. He's also embraced fatherhood recently, calling this time in his life a 'purple patch'.
Massey expressed worry about the Hindi film industry, observing a scarcity of movies falling under the 'real and rooted' genre.
He stressed the significance of creating more films in this category, underscoring the necessity for enhanced diversity and realism in storytelling.
Talking to Hindustan Times, the actor said that the last six months have been quite eventful and actually, quite a lot of things have happened. The success of '12th Fail', wrapping up 'The Sabarmati Report' and it being touted as the much-anticipated release, and then fatherhood as well. He confessed that he's going through an incredible purple patch in his life.
He further said that the pressure to go out there and meet people’s expectations again with equal success is very tough. At the back of the head, one know that he/she cannot replicate '12th Fail' or any success as a matter of fact. One has to start afresh.
Vikrant also shared his confidence in the achievements of the film thus far. He wrapped up by expressing that both personally and professionally, it's a joyous period for him, and he feels profoundly thankful.
'12th Fail' is based on a book by Anurag Pathak and narrates the tale of Manoj Kumar Sharma, who rose from extreme poverty to become an IPS officer. The film portrays his journey and the pivotal role of his wife, IRS officer Shraddha Joshi, in his success. Vikrant Massey plays the role of Manoj, while Medha portrays Shraddha.

Up next for Vikrant, he will star in 'The Sabarmati Report'. He plays Samar Kumar, a vernacular journalist teaming up with a reporter (Raashii Khanna) and a senior anchor (Ridhi Dogra). Originally set for May 2024, the film now releases on August 2. Additionally, the actor is part of 'Yaar Jigri', 'Phor Aayi Haseen Dillruba', and 'Sector 36'.
