Liverpool fans have expressed their concerns about Jordan Henderson’s noticeable absence from a Sky Sports video tribute featuring current and former players honoring him.

Henderson’s departure from Liverpool after the season-ending match against Wolves marks the conclusion of his nine-year stint with the club, during which Liverpool enjoyed major triumphs, including the 2019 Champions League win and the end of their 30-year wait for a league title.

In the Sky Sports tribute, Jurgen Klopp is seen watching emotional accolades from players, but fans quickly noted that Henderson, who captained Liverpool for eight of Klopp’s nine seasons, was missing. This sparked speculation that Henderson, who moved from Liverpool to Al-Ettifaq last summer and then to Ajax in January, might have declined to take part. This was puzzling as former players such as James Milner and Adam Lallana did participate.

Henderson’s record includes 304 appearances under Klopp, making him one of the key players alongside Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah, James Milner, and Trent Alexander-Arnold. Current players like Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Mohamed Salah, and Alisson Becker were featured in the tribute.

Club legends including Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher, and Kenny Dalglish also paid tribute to Klopp, with Gerrard likening Klopp to iconic managers Bill Shankly and Bob Paisley, and suggesting a statue in his honor.

Henderson’s absence from the video could be attributed to his current duties with Ajax in the Netherlands, as other overseas players like Firmino, Sadio Mane, Fabinho, and Georginio Wijnaldum were also not included.

Henderson left Liverpool last summer partly due to the club’s new midfield signings, which indicated his playing time would diminish. In a previous tribute to Klopp, Henderson had commended the manager’s tactical acumen and credited him for Liverpool’s significant improvements under his leadership.
