Movies where the actor directed themselves or took part in directing.

REQUESTING

So I recently watched Monkey man where Dev patel directed his own movie so I was looking for some similar suggestions where the actor was simultaneously acting and directing.

Suggestions can also include movies where actor gave major contributions in directing.

Kenneth Branagh has directed himself several times, including Henry V, Much Ado About Nothing, and The Orient Express.

And of course Orson Welles famously did it many times.

“Unofficially” don’t confuse OP when he starts looking for the director in the cast haha.

It fits the second part of his question.

How has nobody said A Quiet Place with John Krasinski

Here's an interesting one I heard some years back. I didn't see it below.

Upon finishing shooting American History X, the director Tony Kaye apparently completely abandoned the project and Ed Norton took over and worked with the post team--edit on down--to complete the film. He essentially directed what you see.

Lead or near lead.

Keenan Ivory Wayans - I’m Gonna Get You Sucka

Spike Lee - School Daze

Eddie Murphy - Harlem Knights

Rocky - Sylvester Stallone
