West Oso ISD has named Elodia Gutierrez as the next principal of West Oso High School.

Gutierrez will lead the school in the 2024-25 school year, according to a news release from West Oso ISD.

Gutierrez has worked in education for 24 years. She has served in area school districts as a bilingual teacher, assistant principal and principal, as well as administrator for instructional services for Education Service Center Region 2. She is currently director of academic services at San Diego ISD.

"As we embark on this new chapter together, I am confident that Dr. Gutierrez will lead our high school with integrity, compassion, and a relentless focus on student achievement in and outside of the classroom," Superintendent Kimberly Moore said in the news release.

Gutierrez holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas and master's degrees in curriculum and instruction and educational administration and a doctorate in educational leadership from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.

"I am honored and excited to join the great school community of West Oso ISD as the new high school principal," Gutierrez said in the news release. "I am looking forward to working in partnership with our staff, parents, and community to continue the tradition of academic and social excellence for all of our students."
