When fans last saw Vision in the MCU, he was sporting an all-white look, but should he return, his Venom-inspired appearance would be the perfect design. To help celebrate the 40th anniversary of Spider-Man’s black costume in 2024, Marvel is releasing a series of variants featuring their biggest icons wearing the iconic suit. On the variant cover of Avengers #14, Vision dons the suit to awesome effect.

Marvel shared a first look at the Black Costume variant covers, including the one for Avengers #14, on their website. The cover, by InHyuk Lee, shows the Vision phasing through a wall. The Vision has traded in his trademark green and yellow duds for new black and white ones–all that remains of his original color scheme is his red face.

Avengers #14 will be written by Jed MacKay and drawn by C.F. Villa.

The Vision Has Had Few Costume Changes In His Day

The Vision's One Costume Change is Still Remembered to This Day

2024 marks 40 years since Spider-Man first donned the infamous Black and White costume. Debuting during Marvel Super-Hero Secret Wars, the costume was a landmark moment for the Wall Crawler, as it was his first new outfit since his debut over 20 years prior. The costume went on to bond with Eddie Brock, turning him into Venom. Over the years, Marvel has flirted with “Venom-ized” versions of their biggest heroes, and these variant covers continue this trend. The Vision, thanks to his android body, might seem like the last contender to receive a symbiote, but he makes it work here.

The Vision has changed his appearance once in his career. During John Byrne’s tenure on West Coast Avengers, the Vision was disassembled and put back together in a new, all-white body. While his memories remained, the Vision lost the capacity to feel emotions. In time, he reverted to his classic green and yellow appearance, but the MCU recently took its cues from Byrne’s story. During WandaVision, the Vision, believed dead since the events of Infinity War, returns, with a look straight out of Byrne’s West Coast Avengers run. The Vision still had this look when fans last saw him.

If the Vision Returns to the MCU, His Venom-Ized Look is Perfect

The Venon Symbiote Is Not Even Needed

Rumors continue to swirl that Vision will return to the MCU, but for now they remain just that: rumors. However, should he return, the Venom-inspired look he sports on the variant cover of Avengers #14 would be perfect. The black and white ensemble gives Vision a more commanding aura, one certain to grab attention. Furthermore, there is no need to even bring in the Venom symbiote–all the producers would need to do is copy and the black and white design. This new design would be visually striking in live-action, making it perfect for the Vision’s MCU return.
