I have always thought the White Album is better than Rumours. You call it the "perfect" Mac album, yet list it at #2. Explain.

Yeah that made no sense. Also, Future games disrespect is real

All the Danny albums at the bottom is just backwards.

Got that right.

LOL...I don't know if it's disrespectful. We all have different tastes. I might take a crack at reordering these to my tastes. In that case Bare Trees moves way up and Mystery to Me might be #3.

The personality and sound of the band through its different constructs is so different, makes it tough.

they are a very different band so many sounds i was tempted to move mystery up i do love that record

Mystery to Me is almost always my go to Mac album when I am staring at my records, trying to make up my mind. It's got a great vibe and production, and the songs are really good.

Maybe they think Rumours has higher highs? There are definitely albums I consider more perfect than albums I like better.

I get that. I wasn't trying to be a jerk, just extending the conversation. In my mind, 'The Chain' is the best song on either album. But, top to bottom, the White album is more listenable.

No worries! Just a different perspective.

true the white is a more enjoyable back to back but rumors has more if their best songs

Mmm...just pulled.my albums. Now I have to play them back to back. I shall return.

Simple rumors to me is not as perfect but Rumors has more of their best songs than the white one They are very close albums but Gold dust , The Chain , Oh Daddy , Songbird & Dreams plus others are Rumors

I was just looking at the song listings and realized how much I like 2nd Hand News, Go Your Own Way, Never Going Back Again, and I Don't Want to Know

Care to elaborate on what you didn't like about Bare Trees and Future Games? That's a pretty unusual take.

To me they are just not enjoyable albums i have tried over & over i do not like really anything i like sentamental lady thats it

Edited

It's rare to see this. Most consider Danny Kirwan's songs on those LPs -- rockers aside, which were also great -- to be deeply poetic and ethereal ("Woman of a Thousand Years" and "Dust" for instance ") plus his guitar work, esp. the overdubbed leads, are masterful. How one can not love his melodic instrumental "Sunny Side of Heaven", from Bare Trees, is beyond me.

When I met Christine, who never had a child, in I984, I told her of how I would always play her song "Show Me a Smile" (from Future Games) before putting my little boy to bed (who now plays it for his children). Telling her this left her in tears and I got a hug. Those albums, along with 'Then Play On', are my all-time faves.

Agreed, they are great albums. Definitely my list would have behind the mask and time at the bottom. Newer absolutely does not equal better.

lets see yours

I’d put Tusk at #1. Because of all the Buckingham songs. The whole album is a masterpiece. Because of LB. And I’d move Bare Trees into the Top 10.

Tango is my favorite. Christine and Lindsey ate and left no crumbs on that album. Stevie’s songs on Tango are okay. Her songs on the other albums are better.

Mirage is my second favorite.

You make Loving Fun is the best song on Rumours.

Say You Love Me is the best song on Fleetwood Mac.

The fact you have Tusk as as #3 and not #1 and then proceed to comment as you do on the LB songs, which are the best part of the album--well, I can't take this list seriously.

your taste your choice but i can not play his songs besides Tusk on that record

Grow bigger ears.

Here’s my ranking

  1. Mr Wonderful

  2. Then Play On

  3. Fleetwood Mac (1968)

Honorary mention to Dragonfly by Danny, it’s a good song buts it not an album by itself

The rest just sort of equally rest at the bottom

u/msurbrow avatar

It’s funny you say that about Tusk because I wish that song would be removed from the album lol

But yes I would remove a few of Lindsey‘s songs but he’s got some good ones on there as well, and none of them is tusk :-)

Also I think mirage is better than tango
