Broadway actress Linedy Genao will take to the stage at Lyman Center with New Haven Symphony Orchestra for a one-night performance called "Latina Leading Ladies of Broadway."

Genao will perform a selection of songs from Broadway musicals with iconic Latina roles, including Lin-Manuel Miranda's "In the Heights," "West Side Story," "Evita" and Gloria Estefan's "On Your Feet!".

The Connecticut Gay Men's Chorus and Whitney Players will also join Genao during her performance. James Olmstead will be the guest conductor for the New Haven Symphony Orchestra.

Genao is a Dominican-American who moved to Hamden when she was 10 years old, she told Vogue in 2023.

She attended the University of Connecticut, where she majored in business and did community theater on the side. Genao had a career in banking before debuting on Broadway with "On Your Feet!" in 2015.

Genao also starred in "Dear Evan Hansen" from 2021 to 2022 and in Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Bad Cinderella" in 2023. She is the first Latina to originate a leading role in one of Webber's musicals.

New Haven Symphony Orchestra and Genao will perform at Lyman Center at Southern Connecticut State University on Saturday, June 1, starting at 3 p.m.

Tickets for adults range from $15-69 depending on the seating section. Children under 18 may attend for free with the purchase of an adult ticket. College students with an ID can purchase a ticket for $10, and active military members can attend for free with an ID. Groups of 10 or more will receive a 20% discount.
