Swank

I got raked over the coals for saying Jennifer Lawrence’s win hasn’t aged very well. Yet here it is in the bottom 10 out of 23… I love her as an actress but the win itself hasn’t aged well. I’ll have to rewatch the film to re-evaluate my opinion.

I mean tbf that's actually an improvement from the last time this tournament was done lmao. Kidman outlasted JLaw when it was vice versa last time, but JLaw outlasted McDormand in Nomadland this time when it was vice versa last time. McDormand's Nomadland win has actually aged the poorest in terms of rankings over the past few years.

Hasn’t aged well? It was terrible even back then! Her character didn’t even feel like it was a lead, just supporting Bradley Cooper’s performance! All of the other nominees were much better than she was that year, especially Emmanuelle Riva.

I personally think McDormand needs to go.

Hilary Swank

Gotta be Kidman next, right? Then it gets tough.

Nicole has one of the best performances of this century! I can’t believe Emma Stone in La La Land (2016) is still standing!

Julianne Moore.

How are people voting for both Hilary Swank in Million Dollar Baby (2004) and Nicole Kidman in The Hours (2002) to be eliminated before Emma Stone in La La Land (2016)? I have a feeling that people are choosing the actor and not the performance!

I'll take the bait.

Speaking of bait, both roles were definitely Oscar bait but Emma elevated hers. I like Hilary a lot in Boys Don't Cry, so she's obviously a fine enough actor. But I don't feel like she put any kind of stamp on her role here. I think several actors could have played the role with similar results.

And personally I don't care when Emma gets voted out, her performance is good but not one of my personal favorites. I think Hilary has been the weakest for a while, I've been voting for her since Julia Roberts (finally) went out.

Remember that one time Sokka accidentally used an extra syllable in that Haiku Battle in Ba Sing Se? That was a Sokka Haiku and you just made one.

Well for the next several rounds I'm not really gonna care lol. I'll check back in once the end is near and I have to make sure Portman wins lol. The rest of these are almost the same for me, I think they're all solid (some more than others, and some very overrated), but I don't really love anyone else here sans Portman lol

Poor things to go now. Let’s not yet recency bias ruin this.
