Argentine coach Lionel Scaloni has announced an extended squad ahead of the Copa America championship in the United States.
Scaloni has named a 29-player squad that will compete in the Copa America, which will take place in the United States concurrently with the European Championship.
This is the first major squad announcement for the Argentine national team since winning the World Cup in Qatar. Even 18 months later, coach Lionel Scaloni is still relying on most of the key players from the historic triumph in December.
The majority of the victorious squad remains intact, with new additions including Marseille defender Leonardo Balerdi, Fiorentina defender Lucas Martinez Quarta, Brighton full-back Valentin Barco, Tottenham midfielder Giovani Lo Celso, Monza prospect Valentin Carboni, Fiorentina forward Nicolas Gonzalez, and Manchester United prospect Alejandro Garnacho.
Argentina will face Canada, Chile, and Peru in the group stage of the Copa America.
