Celtic told by fans to do ‘everything’ to keep Joe Hart for another year

Celtic fans were left emotional as Joe Hart was given his Parkhead farewell in the final league game of the season as they beat St Mirren 3-2.

The goalkeeper is set to retire after the Scottish Cup final and was greeted with a banner in his honour from the Green Brigade before being substituted to the sound of rapturous applause in the 88th minute.

Hart, 37, made 151 appearances for Celtic after arriving from Tottenham in 2021 as he established himself as a fan favourite at Parkhead.

His leadership and professionalism, as well as his understanding of the club, have led fans to call for him to reconsider retirement and stay for one more year.

Football Insider revealed that the club will target a younger “modern-day” goalkeeper to replace Hart over the summer window.

Celtic fans call for one more year after emotional Joe Hart goodbye

Hart appeared visibly emotional on the pitch just as the fans were off of it, putting an end to a career spanning 19 seasons, nine clubs and 11 trophies, with the possibility of making it 12 in the Scottish Cup final.

Fans implored the veteran goalkeeper to remain at Parkhead for another season, with some suggesting he could take up a coaching role to remain in Glasgow in the long term, while others admitted to being “emotional”.
