We're celebrating a couple of inductees into the Class of 2024 Rock And Roll Hall of Fame

John Mayall and Alexis Korner album covers

Henry Cook and I hope you will join us this Saturday night, May 18th, at 9:00 as we drop another bombshell episode of Time For The Blues. We are celebrating a couple of inductees into the Class of 2024 Rock And Roll Hall of Fame.

In the past we have quibbled about some of the inductees, but more often than not, some of the great bands that have been excluded from the Hall. I still persist in believing that the Monkees need to be inducted for their contributions not only to music, but to the overwhelming influence they had on popular culture.

But that’s a battle for another day. Today we celebrate the accomplishments of a couple of innovators who helped usher in the world of blues to the shores of Merrie Olde England.

First up is our buddy, John Mayall. We’ve featured Mayall on a few shows – both his latest albums as well as some recently unearthed live recordings that were made in clubs. Some of those live recordings have questionable sound, but when you set up a recorder in a club, you’re not going to get pristine sound.

What you will get however, is that unbridled passion that the performers bring to the stage. Mayall brings that every time he plays. Plus, he helped discover and nurture young talent like Eric Clapton, Peter Green, Mick Taylor, John McVie, and Mick Fleetwood. That deserves a passage into the Hall right there.

Second up is the Godfather Of British Blues, Alexis Korner. Korner continually toured England bringing the blues to places like the Cavern, home to the legends themselves, The Beatles. We’re featuring cuts from a compilation disc – R&B From The Marquee/At The Cavern that was recorded in the early ‘60’s and released in 2014.

You’re going to feel that raw energy that made him a star across the pond. Just for fun we’ve got another band – Who? – that’s already in the Hall Of Fame doing some live R&B from the BBC. – Who is it? I just told you…

Plus we have recent stuff from a couple of friends of ours, Johnny Burgin (who is returning to The Camel soon) and Anthony Rosano & The Conqueroos.

And now for some very exciting news! Say you want to go to a blues show at one of your favorite local music venues. It’s on a Saturday night so you don’t want to miss Time For The Blues. Well, now you don’t have to, because, episodes of Time For The Blues are archived for two weeks. So you can catch both shows! Just go to our music archive page and scroll down until you come to Time For The Blues, then you can listen to your heart’s content!

All that and a few surprises to boot! All in all, it’s a great show and we would love to have you join us for the fun if you care to join us at 9:00 this Saturday night.
