DAYS after King Charles III resumed public royal duties amidst undergoing cancer treatment, Queen Camilla had a gentle admonition for him during their recent royal engagement. Offering an update on the 75-year-old monarch’s well-being, the Queen informed attendees at a garden party in Lamb House, Rye on May 16 that the King was “improving,” as per royal reporter Roya Nikkhah.

However, Queen Camilla, humorously remarked, “Well, he would if he behaved himself.”

While she didn’t delve further, Queen Camilla and other members of the royal family have previously hinted at King Charles III’ frustration over slowing down due to his cancer treatment. His nephew, Peter Phillips, shared on Sky News Australia‘s The Royal Report in March that the King was “frustrated” by his limitations. “He is always pushing his staff, doctors, and nurses to see if he can resume certain activities,” Peter added, emphasizing the King’s eagerness to return to normalcy.

Buckingham Palace has maintained a veil of secrecy surrounding his recovery, leading to speculation. Prince William and Kate Middleton are reportedly deeply concerned about the situation.

According to Tom Sykes of the Daily Beast, recent conversations with friends of the king regarding his health have often yielded sombre responses. “It’s not good,” is a common sentiment. The revelation of King Charles’s cancer diagnosis, initially disclosed by Buckingham Palace, sent shockwaves through royal circles.

Reports of Kate Middleton’s own health struggles only heightened the anxiety. Prince William, as the next in line to the throne, is said to be particularly distressed about his father’s declining health.

Furthermore, a close confidant of the King, cited by PageSix, expressed, “Charles is determined to overcome it and they are throwing everything at it,” while acknowledging, “Everyone is staying hopeful, but he is truly very unwell. More so than they are letting on.”

Reports suggest that preparations for the monarch’s funeral, known as “Operation Menai Bridge,” are being reviewed due to his health condition. A former palace staff member confirmed that plans are actively being updated, reflecting a sense of urgency.

The monarch’s cancer diagnosis was disclosed by Buckingham Palace in February following a medical procedure for benign prostate enlargement. The statement noted, “Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer.”
