SUPER SECRET SCUM POND BASS FISHING (TOPWATER FROG!!!)

An early morning walk through the dark woods led my buddy Chris and I to a super secret little scum pond for some Summer topwater pond bass fishing action. There was plenty of it & a topwater frog was on the menu! Pond fishing for bass is always a blast, but it’s made even better when the only way to catch a bass is on a topwater frog!!!

  1. good channel. too bad you dont reply back on my comments bud. who knows might run into you at seneca lake.i have a channel but as of now i have no vids .i just fish.i dont even take pics .

  2. Good video. We have a small lake with very clear water. I have learned a ton fishing frogs in this lake. It is loaded with LM, nothing huge but certainly more action then any bass lake I have fished from NE to TX over the years. Had read in several places where the range a fish would come from was 5 to 10 feet. Not true. I have watched fish come from an easy 20' when they hear the splat in the water. This lake has produced 50 fish in 4 or 5 hours at times. Many don't fish the banks because the reeds are so thick. 40 or 50# test is a must because you are literally hung up almost every cast. But that doesn't affect the fish as much as you would think. The bass also don't need a pause on some days and other days won't touch it without a pause. One thing you nailed is the hookup rate on the small frogs is at least double, maybe more. But no doubt the larger frogs produce bigger fish. The most interesting thing I found was, in the early season the large frogs barely produce. It is like the fish know there are not loads of large frogs around in the spring.

  3. I have been popping live target frog and haven't caught a single fish yet. But tons of bites. Trying to figure out how to hook em because I have had some monsters get away. ๐Ÿ˜ฅ

  4. I only have one spot left like this. It stays fairly clear of debri. No one is ever there and it has monsters. It's probably 5 times this size but long and Boomerang shape. It kills every year.

  5. Love those scum ponds! I have one near me that folks think Iโ€™m crazy for fishing…until they see how many I catch each time I go

  6. People always ask me how I hook up so much with frogs. Its simple but so hard for others. I give it way more time than you are doing. I know its painful for most to wait so long but I had to to train myself to wait longer. It got to the point where a huge blow up doesn't excite me anymore.

  7. With a four year old at home, there isn't the time or the budget for a bass boat and a garage full of gear. Love your videos for the pure joy of fishing and advice for the rest of us. Been watching them as fast as I can finish each one. Subscribed! Had some of my best days on little, hidden ponds like that. Great memories.

  8. We were having some issues getting hooked up on some frogs on some thicker muck so I started throwing a wacky work with a weedless hook and was finally getting some hookups. You can treat a wacky worm just like a frog, drag it across the much.

  9. Your persona is by far one of the best compared to the rest of the fishing channels on YouTube. Great work! (Pulling up google maps looking for some farm ponds!! Hopefully I can get permission)

  10. I love your videos man. You & Ish Monroe are the only 2 people I mainly watch on fishing. We have a lot of small & large ponds here local that I can fish. I love throwing frogs. I can't seem to catch any during late morning, mid day or early evening though. I've tried a lot of different things as far as techniques. Is there a certain color you prefer when froggin'? And the majority of the ponds here look identical to the one your on in this video. Except with a lot more undergrowth.
