Just adding this because some people are unaware, but The Phantom of the Opera is a book, by Gaston Leroux

lol probably should have mentioned I'd read that one too. That was what got me into the Phandom xD

YA: The Phantom’s Apprentice by Heather Webb

+Classic satirical fantasy novel: Maskerade by Terry Pratchett

+Classic: The Phantom by Susan Kay — more adult/NA due to content. The pacing/story didn’t work for me, but so many people love it.

I love the Susan Kay version. It's one of the few fan fiction phantom retellings that feels like it fits. I've had it on my shelf for 30 years.

I haven't read it, but Sing Me Forgotten is a retelling of the Phantom of the Opera.

To me, the Phantom of Manhattan by Fredrick Forsyth fits the same style of writing that Leroux had in the original Phantom. It is supposed to be a sequel. I know not everyone loves it, but in my opinion, it flows well as a continuation of the story.

Master of Salt and Bones by Keri Lake was phenomenal. Check the trigger warnings beforehand! I really really enjoyed it.

I think "Belladonna" by Adalyn Grace has some similar vibes.
