It is music to the ears of any hairstyle minimalist when a new trend arrives and it's as effortless and easy as they come. Luckily for us, the golden summer cut set to dominate this season - a dream-like, boho-inspired blonde rooted in the cool girl aesthetic of Kate Moss and Sienna Miller, and imbued with the tousled textures seen on Chloé’s AW24 runway - is anything but high-maintenance.

Kate Moss and her daughter Lila, who attended Gucci's cruise show on Monday night, were a prime example. Sitting front row at the the design-led Tate Modern, which welcomed in an A-list crowd of Paul Mescal, ELLE UK cover star Little Simz, and Daisy Edgar-Jones, Lila Moss took hairstyle notes from her mother’s signature hairstyle - the 'supermodel' blonde - injecting a slightly messier, undone texture free of polished heat styling or tools, which has been making waves on the runway of late.

‘Kate was her iconic, sexy Kate last night for the Gucci Cruise show,’ celebrity hairstylist and founder of his eponymous label, Sam McKnight, tells ELLE UK. ‘To create effortless texture with a little lift at the roots, I misted Modern Hairspray through Kate’s hair whilst upside down for root lift, then twisted it onto the top of her head and pinned it. I then left it to set whilst she had her make-up done, after taking it down it a pump of Happy Endings to defluff where needed,’ he adds.

A new-season take on Moss's signature, the fledgling trend seen on her daughter Lila is being dubbed 'dream' blonde and comes inspired by a beauty moodboard straight from the runway, says STIL's founder and creative director, Christel Barron-Hough. More specifically, Chemena Kamali’s debut AW24 Chloé show, which welcomed the return of boho dressing and beauty alike. Playing with texture and the natural movement of the models' hair, it was all about fluid, soft textures and a laissez-faire approach to hair styling.

‘This colour trend has slowly been making its mark on the iconic fashion movement, which is influenced by the free-spirited vibes of the 70s and the original godmothers of style such as Talitha Getty and Pat Cleveland, and loved by modern bohemian trailblazers like Sienna Miller, Florence Welch and Zoe Kravitz,’ explains Barron-Hough.

Sienna Miller - another early adopter of the trend - has also been embracing 'dream' blonde. For the Met Gala this year, the it-girl's tresses were the epitome of the laissez-faire boho vibe. 'The aesthetic for the trend is all about lightness, movement and fluidity,' agrees Barron-Hough. 'It’s both practical and playful,' she adds.

Pine blonde, wheat, rustic pale brown and almond white are all terms that aptly describe the colour moodboard. 'The go-to shades for this look must be super soft, simple and natural,' says Barron-Hough. In terms of achieving the hue, ‘the technique for this colour trend is a hybrid of flawless artisan weaves, foiling and surface colouring,’ she says. ‘Highlights create lightness and texture while the surface colour adds dimension and flow to the hair. Meanwhile, roots are incorporated and blended for a natural boho-esque finish and tones are carefully blended with a seamless weave technique from the base to the ends before hand-painting the surface colour to create a playful depth,' she says.

As for styling, less really is more. As McKnight tells us, ‘heatless styling for summer is a go’. Meaning you can recreate the natural and flowing texture using mists, sea salt sprays and heatless hacks as opposed to fussy or intricate waves using a tong which might look effortless but really requires the precision and work of a pro. You can simply air-dry your hair and add Hair By Sam McKnight's Sundaze Sea Spray or Oribe's Après Beach Spray for instant texture and lift.

As Barron-Hough describes it: 'imagine flowing hair with natural texture in dreamy summer fields.' It's natural, soft, and has the seal of approval from our biggest beauty muses.
