The 77th Cannes Film Festival is underway and the red carpet is brimming with jaw-dropping jewels as films including Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis, Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga and The Apprentice make their debut.
Proving popular are collar necklaces and statement earrings worn by the likes of Meryl Streep, Jane Fonda and Greta Gerwig. Read on for our pick of all the best jewellery from Cannes Film Festival 2024.
President of the jury and Barbie director Greta Gerwig went for a custom Saint Laurent gown in burgundy sequins accessorised with Chopard jewellery for the opening night.
For long-time Louis Vuitton ambassador Léa Seydoux, the natural choice for the Cannes red carpet was a sequinned gown from the Parisian fashion house elevated with new jewels from the brand’s Deep Time high jewellery collection.
Attending the premiere of her new film Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, Anya Taylor-Joy embraced old Hollywood glamour in a Tiffany & Co. by Jean Schlumberger Bird on a Rock brooch. Crafted in platinum and yellow gold, the piece features over 10 carats of diamonds and is accented by a pink sapphire eye.
Taylor-Joy completed her look with a Tiffany Soleste pear-shaped halo engagement ring with a diamond platinum band and a Tiffany Victoria diamond vine band ring, also in platinum.
Stepping out in a white Dior wrap dress, Meryl Streep rocked a pair of stunning pendant earrings from Indian jeweller Hanut Singh. She also wore a mid-20th century gold and diamond ring from Fred Leighton.
For the photocall for Kinds of Kindness, Emma Stone shone in De Beers’ Alchemist of Light Optical Wonder ring, crafted in white gold and blue aluminium, and a set of platinum DB Classic diamond stud earrings.
At the Emilia Perez photo call, megastar Selena Gomez looked radiant in Messika’s diamond Wild Moon earrings – with a matching ring – and a Snake Dance ring, also set with white diamonds.
Model Shanina Shaik stole the spotlight in a suite by New York jeweller Marli. The new, one-of-a-kind Lady Liberty set featured over 64 carats of white diamonds and included a collar necklace with matching earrings, bracelet and a ring in white gold.
Hollywood icon Jane Fonda was a vision of elegance on opening night in a pre-fall 2019 Elie Saab wide-leg jumpsuit with Pomellato jewellery that included an asymmetric choker in rose gold, studded with a staggering 2,924 white diamonds, a matching cuff and earrings. The pieces are an exclusive preview on the Milanese brand’s latest high jewellery collection, launching in June.
For the screening of Guy Maddin’s film Rumours, French actress Gaia Weiss lit up the red carpet wearing the Torsade de Chaumet high jewellery necklace from Chaumet.
Like Jane Fonda, Helena Christensen also opted for Pomellato jewels. The supermodel chose a rose gold gourmette necklace – a style of jewellery chain in the form of a plait, of which the plaits have rough and smooth sides – centred with a 10-carat rectangular cut indigolite stone, surrounded by a pavé of 203 smaller indigolites and nearly 2,000 white diamonds. A matching ring and earrings complete Christensen’s suite.
For Lea Elui only De Beers diamonds will do. The social media star proved that the choker necklace is still a red carpet staple wearing the Dusk Reflection choker from the brand’s Alchemist of Light high jewellery collection. Totalling 19.33 carats, the piece is constructed of a mixture of rose gold and white gold.
Elui further accessorised with De Beers’ white gold Cluster earrings of 9.74 carats, a cocktail ring, also in white gold, and an Old Bond Street pear-shaped ring crafted in platinum.
Vicky Krieps also chose De Beers diamonds. For the Cannes red carpet, the actor dazzled in the diamond specialist’s white gold Arpeggia choker and headband set with 5.89 carats of diamonds. With this, she matched the brand’s white gold Light Fall earrings of 15.41 carats, two Eternity rings – one in white gold and another in oxidised gold, and a white gold RVL ring.
Taylor Hill sparkled in some serious Messika diamonds. The model opted for the Imperial Move necklace from the Parisian jeweller’s Beyond The Light high jewellery collection, which she paired with a mix of My Twin clips, Star Chaser ring and the Glam’Azone double ring.
Fellow model Romee Stridj also attended bedecked in Messika jewels including the Desert Bloom high jewellery necklace and earrings, and Snake Dance ring from the Born To Be Wild collection.
Gossip Girl star Kelly Rutherford chose Chaumet for the occasion, accessorising with the maison’s Soir de Fête diamond necklace and earrings.
Attending the Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga premiere, supermodel Maria Borges was bejewelled in a new pair of white gold earrings and necklace from Pomellato’s Sabbia collection. Set with white diamonds, the pieces are defined by asymmetrically arranged discs.
Model Alton Mason wore jewellery from French diamond brand Messika. He sparkled in a three-row So Move necklace – one of the most iconic lines from the maison renowned for the diamonds that appear to float in the links. The necklace Mason wore is a white gold version with a diamond-frosted linked chain.
Aubrey Plaza was a vision in Piaget high jewellery. The Megalopolis star chose the Swiss maison’s Luxuriant Oasis necklace and earrings, set with rows of emeralds and white diamonds in twisted white gold, and an Essence of Extraleganza ring from the 150th high jewellery collection.
De Beers’ Wonderlight earrings in white gold, an Enchanted Lotus open ring and an Enchanted Lotus cocktail ring were the jewels of choice for Jasmine Jobson.
On the Bird red carpet, Franz Rogowski looked dapper in all-black suiting accessorised with a Tank Louis Cartier watch and yellow gold Juste un Clou ring.
Megalopolis star Adam Driver rocked a green Piaget Polo Chronograph at Cannes. The 42 mm timepiece is housed in a steel case, and powered by the 1160P manufacture automatic mechanical movement.
Victoria Justice graced the red carpet wearing Chaumet. The American actress and singer was a vision in the Joséphine Valse Impériale diamond necklace and earrings as well as a Joséphine Aigrette Impériale ring.
Opting for vintage pieces, Salma Hayek-Pinault chose the yellow gold Serpent necklace, studded with coral and onyx, from Boucheron’s 1974 private collection, and the Tortue necklace in yellow gold, coral, wood and diamonds from the 1987 Boucheron private collection.
