As per the MoU, Skyports, RAKTA, and RAKTDA will work together to design, develop, and operate the first electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) air taxi ports. The project will utilise RAKTA’s public transport network with Skyports’ vertiport infrastructure, significantly decreasing travel times. Skyports will create several vertiports across Ras Al Khaimah to connect key attractions through this sustainable air transport solution.

The electric air taxi service aims to offer fast and zero-emission transport to several places in Ras Al Khaimah, including Jebel Jais, Al Marjan Island, and Al Hamra. With the introduction of air taxis, visitors travelling from Al Marjan Island to Jebel Jais can complete the journey within 20 minutes, instead of the 70 minutes it takes by road. RAKTA’s Strategic Plan 2030, which aims to attract 3.5 million visitors annually by 2030, is a major driving force behind the project. Additionally, the introduction of zero-emission transport options is in line with the UAE’s penchant for sustainable innovations.
Ras Al Khaimah is a major tourist destination in the Emirates, offering adventure, leisure, luxury, and nature spots. Some of its most popular tourist haunts include Saqr Park, Shimal, the National Museum of Ras Al Khaimah, Hajar Mountains, Khatt Springs, Ras Al Khaimah Pearl Museum, Wadi Shakwa, and Jebel Jais, the highest peak in the UAE.
