@gueguen85 “At the time” is used to make a specific reference in the past, usually to imply a state of change or difference.
For example: “You said you hated me!” “At the time, I did.” The 2nd speaker is saying that the statement used to be true, but no longer is.
“By the time” is used to reference a specific point in the future.
For example: “Can we go to the grocery store?” “By the time we get there, it’ll be closed.” In this case, “by the time” could be replaced by “when” and the sentence would mean the same thing.
