ASHEVILLE - A romantic lounge that evokes elegance and a contemporary curated experience has debuted in Asheville.

Wine & Roses, a parlour bar, is now open at Zelda Dearest, a new 20-room boutique hotel at 150 Lexington Ave. named in honor of Zelda Fitzgerald.

The intimate venue, designed by Hatteras Sky and with interiors by Nashville-based firm, Anderson Design Studio, aims to capture the personality of Fitzgerald in the restored turn-of-the-century mansion.

Its bar offers a curated selection of local beer, wine and craft cocktails by Asheville chef/restaurateur Jacob Sessoms. A small bites menu will be introduced later this summer.

Wine & Roses’ ambiance

Wine & Roses offers an eight-seater bar and an additional 21 seats in the bar area, plus a 24-seat outdoor patio outfitted with two fire pits.

The designers pulled from history to recreate a space inspired by clandestine meetings said to have ignited Zelda Fitzgerald’s whirlwind courtship with author F. Scott Fitzgerald and inspired her writing and artistry.

Golden hues, dim lighting and lush velvet accents create a warm setting, and vases of roses and the glimmering chandeliers further set the mood and add an air of sophistication.

A portrait of Zelda Fitzgerald ― an artist, novelist, poet and dancer ― graces the wall.

Craft cocktails stars
