Maax is a twisted cult leader who steals the throne of King Zed and sends witches to steal his unborn son. Dar defeats Maax using his powers to avenge his people and foster father. The movie is best known for its repeated late-night airings on cable, in particular TBS and HBO. The bat-people worship a falcon icon and Maax has a bird-like nose, possibly taken as a sign of his favor from the falcon-god Ar. The heroes find out Maax knows of their surprise attack and the resulting Curb-Stomp Battle happens between scenes. In the sequel, Arklon wears a half-mask over the right side of his face, covering unsightly facial scars. Dar has his ferrets take Kiris clothes when shes bathing as part of a scheme to seduce her, and Kiri shows off her looks through lengthy nudity. In Beastmaster 2, the priests dont flee even after Dar escapes, and the bat people show up at the end in time to save the city.
