Fans of ‘Star Wars’ have high hopes for the The Acolyte’, the upcoming Disney+ show set to take place at the darkest point of the High Republic Era, with a special predilection for action with lightsabers, as we have seen in the different teasers so far. Now, the executive producer of the series has spoken about the inspiration they had for this aspect, revealing that Quentin Tarantino’s ‘Kill Bill’ was key in creating the tone and style of fights in ‘The Acolyte’.

How has ‘Kill Bill’ influenced ‘Star Wars’?

Thanks to a recent interview with executive producer Simon Emanuel, we know that the production took notes of the action presented in ‘Kill Bill’ by Tarantino. Furthermore, he recognized that both he and showrunner Leslye Headland collaborated very closely with coordinator Chris Clark Cowan to take the action of ‘The Acolyte’ to levels never before seen in the saga:

“The thing I... got very excited about was Kill Bill . One of the things we talked about really early on was the action... in these kinds of shows, action has to be a character... so I introduced Leslye [Headland] to a guy called Chris Clark Cowan ... and action became such a component of this story. For me, it’s the best action the franchise has seen - and there’s so much of it,” said the series’ producer enthusiastically.

In this way, ‘The Acolyte’ is expected to present the best action scenes in the entire ‘Star Wars’ saga, both with lightsabers in hand and other combat disciplines, something that is already suggested in the trailers published so far by Lucasfilm and Disney. ‘Kill Bill’ took the classic action of martial arts cinema to new terrain, betting on visual spectacularity and explicit violence, so the inspiration is clear.

Action coordinator Chris Clark Cowan has worked in films like ‘Kingsman: The Golden Circle’, ‘Wonder Woman’, ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’, and ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’, so visual virtuosity seems to be assured for the next ‘Star Wars’ , releasing on June 4 exclusively through Disney+.
