Shirley McFadden OBITUARY

Shirley was born in Denver on September 23, 1916 and died December 20, 2003 at the age of 87. A memorial service for the immediate family will be held at Christ Episcopal Church. Shirley Converse Hamilton (McFadden) was a descendent of Colorado pioneers Frederick Converse and his wife Sophia who emigrated to Central City in 1860. Her grandparents were George A. Converse and Florence Doty. Her parents were Joseph Curry Hamilton and Mary Converse Hamilton. She graduated from South High School in 1934. Shirley also graduated from the St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing and earned her BA from Colorado A and M, (now CSU). For many years, she was a registered nurse at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was a member of the Rocky Mountain Railroad Club for many years. She volunteered at the Colorado Historical Society and the Museum of Nature and Science. She married Bryant L. McFadden in 1944. He preceded her in death. Shirley is survived by two sons Robert H. McFadden of Evergreen, Ellis B. McFadden of Denver; her daughter-in-law Carla A. McFadden, and two grandsons Andrew K.
