To participate in the June 27 CNN presidential debate, you need to meet certain criteria.

Two presidential hopefuls have confirmed their participation in a CNN-hosted debate on June 27th at the network's Atlanta headquarters. This event will differ from previous debates in various ways, one of them being the absence of a studio audience.

CNN has established specific criteria that candidates must satisfy in order to take part.

Each contender has to fulfill the criteria stipulated in Article II, Section 1 of the US Constitution for presidential service. Biden and Trump fulfill these criteria, along with other non-major-party candidates like Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Cornel West, and Jill Stein.

Candidates are also obligated to submit a formal statement of candidacy to the Federal Election Commission. These individuals have done just that.

In addition, participants must attain the required number of electoral votes (270) on state ballots to secure the presidency and achieve at least 15% in four separate national polls of registered or prospective voters, as per CNN's standards for reporting. Eligible polls incorporate those sponsored by CNN, ABC News, CBS News, Fox News, Marquette University Law School, Monmouth University, NBC News, The New York Times/Siena College, NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist College, Quinnipiac University, The Wall Street Journal, and The Washington Post.

Biden and Trump will meet these prerequisites, placing the other candidates in a more challenging position. However, Kennedy's campaign claims they could potentially meet the ballot threshold in more states if they collect enough signatures. West's campaign believes they have obtained enough signatures for ballot access in six states.

Kennedy has been garnering an average of 13% in national polls, while West and Stein typically achieve around 3%.

Before the debate, debaters must commit to adhering to the rules and format. Biden and Trump have accepted these conditions.

Both Trump and Biden have also confirmed their participation in a separate event hosted by ABC on September 10th.
