Reeve Readies for the 2024 Paris Olympics as the Head Coach of the Women’s Basketball Team

PHILADELPHIA – Cheryl Reeve, '88, will continue her illustrious coaching career this year as she prepares for the 2024 Paris Olympics as the women's basketball head coach. 

Reeve played four seasons as a member of the La Salle women's basketball team from 1984-1988 and shined in her senior year, helping the team to a 25-5 record. The South Jersey native was named to the All-MAAC team and All-Big 5 team at the conclusion of the 1988 season. Reeve sits tied for third all-time in games started at La Salle (110) and is sixth in all-time assists with 420. 

The Big 5 Hall of Famer spent two years as an assistant coach at La Salle following her time as a player. She parlayed her time on 20th and Olney to a professional coaching career in 2001 with the WNBA's Charlotte Sting. In 2010, Reeve was named head coach of the Minnesota Lynx, where she has been named WNBA Coach of the Year three times, while also securing four WNBA championships in her tenure in Minnesota. She is the longest-tenured active head coach in the WNBA at 15 years. 

This will be the fourth Summer Olympics with Reeve at the helm of the women's basketball team, having previously led the squad In 2012, 2016, and 2020. Reeve led team USA home with the gold each time.
 
The 2024 Summer Olympics will be held in Paris, France starting on Sunday, July 28. Team USA will be a part of 'Group C' along with Germany, Japan, and Belgium. The Gold medal game will be played on Sunday, August 11th.
