He’s actually being considerate of others, if the parking lot isn’t too full he’s keeping his trailer out of the way of traffic, it’s actually the right call

I mean you can see dozens of spots in this picture alone. I live right by here and stop often and it's never full enough that this would be an issue. Let the guy get lunch in peace.

u/KrabbyBoiz avatar

Seriously. I’m all for getting out the pitchforks but also this guy did a good job of only taking up the number of spaces he needed to. Also there’s tons of open spaces around him and, I’m assuming, off camera.

Also this is giving me Oregon trail/Dredge “fit your supplies in the wagon” vibes.

This is the correct answer

The point is he's lazily splayed across 6 spots, when technically 5 would work.

The only reason I accept his parking job is because the lot isn't busy, and because occupying only 5 spaces requires extra care upon departure, which I wouldn't trust this sloppy driver to be capable of doing without dents.

IMO he's done this plenty of times before, because it's easier for him to pull out without too much risk or hassle.

Would you rather he just pull through into two spots and have it stick out by 3 or 4 feet on both ends?

u/OkGene2 avatar

My thoughts as well. Assuming there isn’t a shortage of parking spots, this might be a consequence of a conscientious (if poorly though out) attempt to not inconvenience other people

Thinking maybe he could have taken up 3 spots parking across one row versus across 6 diagonally. It’s not that serious though it’s an awkward thing to park in a regular lot, so either way

Edit: 4 spots looking more closely I think lol. But I mean one side not parking in the middle

Get a grip. Lot is empty and whoever did this did what they had to do to not have their truck/equipment messing up the flow of traffic outside of the parking lines. Some of yall parking lot police are really insufferable.

u/OkGene2 avatar

Right. I think the only thing that can be criticized is “they took up six spaces instead of four in an attempt to not block the aisles”.

Meanwhile several Uber eats and doordashers are parked in the fire lane

Came here to say this but you did better than I could. Thank you. Now get off my lawn 😅

u/DuhBasser avatar

Who the fuck cares if the lot is empty? This dumbass is taking up 6 spots and would only take up at most 2 spaces just by parking in a straight line. Literally only have to walk 10 more yards to not cause an inconvenience if the lot does get full.

u/Trisket42 avatar

No way that truck and trailer is short enough to fit in 2 spots

u/DuhBasser avatar

So don’t park in a single vehicle spot dumb ass

Okay so it takes up 4 spots probably. Not even, tbh, these places have specific spots for work vehicles so this would take up literally a designed space but that’d mean they’d have to walk a 10-20 feet more to the entrance. My statement still stands, these fucking ass holes would rather cause regular more people of a hassle than park in literal designed spots for them.

It’s a pickup truck, straight line he’s still hanging out in the way

u/wonkifier avatar

Plus with as much space as there usually is between rows, I can't imagine it could pull out straight enough to be able to make a turn without damaging at least 2 nearby vehicles

u/wigsgo_2019 avatar

That too, if someone parks right next to him he will hit him with the trailer, if not the car in front of him

u/DuhBasser avatar

Alright 4 spots instead of 6, probably closer to 8 but regardless my point still stands. This dumb ass could probably park in those reserved spots for double wides but that’s further away and heaven forbid they walk 10 more feet

I'd give them 7, cause no one should park in that spot next to the white sedan either... that being said: lot doesn't look that full, seems fine if that's the case.

Tree fiddy.

u/Longjumping-Many4082 avatar

OP, let's see you do better and park that truck & trailer in a way that you (a) take up fewer spaces and (b) don't get blocked in and (c) can then leave without hitting anyone.

It would be one thing if the lot were packed. It isn't.

I’ve drove a landscape truck and trailer for several years. If I had to go to a store I always tried to park it far out of the way so as not to have to finagle it and to not inconvenience other customers. This was on Mother’s Day and the lot was relatively hopping. It looks empty because everyone else had to park far away because of this jackass

u/Longjumping-Many4082 avatar

There are lots of open spaces in the next, second, and third rows over. This guy didn't keep anyone from using them. And they're not open because of anything other than not busy or "hopping". But whatever. You do you. Get angry over nothing. This guy is a customer like anyone else, and since there are plenty of open spaces in the next few rows, he didn't do anything wrong IMHO.

As someone who has very rarely towed a trailer, this doesn't bother me. He gave himself a way to get out without having to back up in a parking lot. The lot looks pretty sparse where he is.

No foul (to me)

u/coder7426 avatar

It's actually take up 7 spaces.

u/Longjumping-Many4082 avatar

My only criticism is this guy either needs a new axle or his bearings on the trailer are SHOT...either way, needs some TLC.

u/AudioHamsa avatar

You've got to plan safe egress of your entire load, even if that means taking some extra space.

You'll be ok.

I’ll take your six and I’ll give you eight.

u/Stealthless avatar

This looks like the shopping center off Stone Rd. LUL

u/NoFuckinBody123 avatar

Since they’re towing a trailer in a mostly empty lot, I let this slide. I hate the ones that just have a regular fucking car and you can tell they just cut the wheel into the spot and take up 1.25 spots

I was bitter because they chose the main aisle of the lot. If I was parking it I feel like I’d do it a little further out instead of taking up so many spaces close in but to each their own

That’s a fair point. When we would tow our boat as kids my dad always made sure to park basically as far away as possible.

Totally fair point. He could have, as I mentioned in an another comment, parked across 4 spots in one row and not park haphazardly in the middle of the lot across 6. Idk though maybe he was in a rush or tired or didn’t care

The trailer takes up 4 and the truck takes up 2?

Go see an eye doctor immediately

Your math isn't mathing.

Trailer taking over a small corner of one spot not really that much of occupying a small corner

More replies

Theres so much parking that a truck and its trailer can take 6 spaces and it basically isn't a problem. I know OP is complaining about it but there are empty spots in the background.

We need to take back some of the space we give to cars.
