Yup, no face scan. But respect on the rating.

u/PureKaleidoscope9079 avatar

Why he ain’t got a Face scan yet?

That’s what we all been saying idk…

u/PureKaleidoscope9079 avatar

Yes cuz Rookies all got their face scanned, igz it’s Ant who haven’t been there to get his face in the game

he didn’t attend when invited

Maybe he was busy shooting movie with adam sandler 😂😅

From what I've heard, he wanted to get paid for his face scan, which 2k doesn't like doing

Modders been doing perfect cyberfaces with random Media Day photos for decades now but 2k is fine with a 95 rated player looking like a CAP because he didn't attend the face scanning.

u/Athlete-Extreme avatar

I feel like the reason he got a 95 is because really no defense can stop Ant but man 95 is high but he is a franchise player why am I conflicted.

To be clear, Ant is shooting 59% from mid-range across 6 playoff games, after shooting 33% in the regular season. He will come back down to earth. He's this season's Jimmy Butler / Jamal Murray. It's an extremely high rating for a player who is probably going to make All-NBA 3rd team. 2K are just prisoners of the moment and don't actually evaluate players.

The 95 OVR 2K gave him would mean something if they improved his Handle, Playmaking, Post Game, or Defense. But they didn't touch any of those things. They just overloaded his shooting and boosted his athleticism to the level it should have been at when he was drafted #1 OVR four years ago.

u/MySilverBurrito avatar

Or worse, 'Intangibles' lmao.

Made up stat to inflate overalls.

They also now also use Shot IQ and Offensive Consistency in much the same way.

One of the best and worst decisions 2K ever made towards their rosters was making Badges count towards OVR. The Ratings editors somewhat have their hands tied because the Badge dev refuses to relinquish control and only updates a handful of players per year.

I am okay with Intangibles otherwise as a way to bridge positional formulas and player/team value. The thing is 2K uses it as a band-aid w/o touching 50% of the attributes.

what does ts even do 😭

I think it just makes them more op in sims

prisoners of the moment is a weird take, because should roster updates not reflect recent play. Bro is shooting almost 60% from midrange in the playoffs and most of those have been tough shots. Career high against the defending champs. I think 95 is deserved but u right that they should’ve boosted something other than his already undervalued athleticism

Edited

because should roster updates not reflect recent play.

I know this is a crazy concept but 6 games does not a goat make. Edwards is not the first player to have a good stretch of playoff games, and won't be the last. Heck in the last few years we've seen Jimmy Butler, Jamal Murray, Donovan Mitchell, CALEB MARTIN.

Hell we're seeing it from Josh Hart right now who was doo-doo in the regular season.

It also goes both ways. Is Brandon Ingram suddenly a backup because he shot 35% in 4 games?
Did 2K give him (or any other players who struggled these playoffs) any comparable treatment? No. They are just front-running per usual.

Bro is shooting almost 60% from midrange in the playoffs

On a sample of 13 shots. It's a small sample and not a sustainable shooting percentage. He ain't suddenly the best mid-range scorer in NBA history.

His tough-shot making can just as easily be tough-shot missing (he's among the least efficient mid-range scorers in the NBA his entire career so far). It's his playmaking and two-way play that give him a higher floor, and are nowhere near as high-variance as tough shot shooting percentages.

he’s easily going to make second team

1st team: Shai, Luka
2nd: team: Brunson, Haliburton
3rd team: Booker, Edwards

The regular season happened. Edwards doesn't "easily" make the team over Haliburton, even factoring he was limited in the 2nd half. He is not the far-and-away best player on his team that Brunson/Haliburton are.

The man is up 2-0 against the defending champs, he definitely deserves 95

u/Athlete-Extreme avatar

You have a point. No Gobert game too held nuggets to a season low 80 points scored.

Going against the grain but 95 is insane . Tatum has been to the finals and went to the WCF ( basically they are on similar paths ) . Tatum was ranked 89 if we assume Min is going to WCF . 95 before doing it is insane .

Ant is good but consider Jokic barely be hitting 95 and is now a 3 Time MVP . 2k is smoking that crack . Only 2k in its infinite wisdow would hype up a player with no face scan but the rights too .

Again I see ANT as potential face of the league but 95 stop it Lmao.

u/Athlete-Extreme avatar

Yeah I was comparing him and Tatum and for him to get 95 first doesn’t make sense. Getting to the finals pre-porzingis is nuts.

u/binojamz avatar

pretty sure jokic is a 98 rn, and tatum was a 95 at the end 2k23 and at 2k24 launch.

It’s insane bc Brunson is lower than him

u/Athlete-Extreme avatar

You’d build a franchise around Brunson before Ant?

u/Top_Host_6829 avatar

That’s not relevant at all an overall is based on their current ability and effect on the game not potential

u/Athlete-Extreme avatar

I didn’t say it was, how could it be lol. Ant is def more talented than Brunson not knocking him.

Ant is playing like he’s on PC right now w 174 ovr and shit

u/ConceptAnamoly avatar

Ant is a 93 imo. Calling him a 95ovr means he’s already an all time great. The kid is just getting started. Chill with the recency bias 2k

u/Fun-Celery5237 avatar

I’d argue that a live rating that gets raised/lowered based on recent performance, should probably be biased to recent events.

If 2K were really basing their ratings on recent events they wouldn't still have LeBron and KD at 96.

u/Fun-Celery5237 avatar

I think those are both valid too. They both played good, just lost to better teams. All world but playing with bad teams around them.

Sir snarks a lot, sit down. He obviously did not begin the season at 93. He began the season as an 89ovr so obviously any rating higher than that would be based off how his game is trending currently. My argument is that he’s a 93ovr and not a 95. Way to completely miss the point

u/Fun-Celery5237 avatar

Sir snarks a lot thats a silly name. I understood what you said. What more do you want from him tho, 6-0 in the playoffs. Can’t check him irl, he’s been the best player in the postseason thus far. Why should his in game rating, which is based on recent events not reflect that fact? Honestly you could justify his rating being 96+. It can go down.

u/ConceptAnamoly avatar

You make it sound like jumping from 89-93 in one year is somehow a slight. He certainly has 95+ potential but his game still has a lot of room to grow and to argue that he’s at that level already would be like saying Jamal Murray should’ve been a 95+ after last year’s playoffs because he put up even better numbers. Yet no one considers Jamal Murray a 95ovr+ player DUE TO A LARGER SAMPLE SIZE THAN JUST THE PLAYOFFS. Prototypical overreaction

The ratings are ridiculous now. They got SGA as 97. MJ & Bron are 98,99

Unless you're arguably a top 10 player you should never be in the 92-100 range.

u/RegentCupid avatar

Yet Tatum still a 94 :(

As opposed to what?

u/RegentCupid avatar

95, dude came 5/6 in mvp voting, he deserves to be better.

u/RepFucker avatar

He’ll go up once that fraud shows up in the playoffs

u/RegentCupid avatar

If you watched you’d understand 🤷‍♂️
