Now as someone who has a sublime tattoo and a hatchet man tattoo and spends a week at beach each summer, I'm lost as to where I should fit in.
It's pretty fucked up but it's not really glorifying that. The narrator seems to know he's not a particularly good person.

The story itself adds a real context to how impoverished people get sucked into a life they never wanted through abuse and a lack of opportunity. There are literary precedents to the idea of falling in love with a prostitute, but this song adds the unique realism of Annie's background having been pimped out by her father as a minor. Which makes the narrator's love and lust for her complicated as he doesn't care about any of that and is willing to murder her father if it means she can be free to be with him and travel the country. Which continues the cycle of how they are trapped doing things the wrong way, especially as he continues to pay for sex with her in the absence of being able to convince her to leave.
The title makes it pretty clear it’s the “Wrong Way”

Saw them live a couple years ago, the whole show is an experience, one of the best concerts I've ever been to. They didn't perform buck dich, I don't think their U.S. experiences with performing that one have gone too well historically.
The 1998 live performance did something to my brain
On the other hand, a song called "Meine Tränen" from the last album made me cry a couple of tears when I read the English lyrics.
