Community members react after San Joaquin County sheriff warns of 2 mountain lion sightings | The San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office is warning community members about two mountain lion sightings over the last few days. "We want to make sure that when you encounter these types of animals that you take extra precaution," said Andres Lopez, a public information officer with the San Joaquin County Sheriff's Office. Get the Facts: Will California gas prices soon rise by 50 cents a gallon? | Several headlines have recently surfaced about what some reports claim is a "little known" or "secret" proposal in California that could increase gas prices by nearly 50 cents a gallon as soon as next year. The proposal, known as amendments to the California Air Resources Board's Low Carbon Fuel Standards, is still in the works and experts note none of it is set in stone. The board on Monday scheduled its postponed hearing on the issue on Nov. 8. Find more here.
Bear hit and killed by car near Foresthill found with all four of its paws cut off and stolen | A dead bear was found with all four of its paws cleanly cut off and stolen. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife Law Enforcement Division is now investigating. Capt. Patrick Foy said the bear was hit by a car on Saturday. The person who hit the bear was distressed and called 911 to report the incident. Find more here.
California poised to delay health care minimum wage increase | California health care workers will have to wait a little bit longer before they see an increase to their minimum wage. Last year, Gov. Gavin Newsom signed a law that would raise the health care minimum wage to $25 an hour starting June 1 of this year. Find more here.
Landmark bronze horse statue stolen from Yolo County stable | The search is on for a large, heavy, valuable bronze statue that was stolen from a Yolo County horse boarding stable over the weekend. The horse statue served as a landmark for Willow Creek Horse Park, which sits along Highway 113 between Woodland and Davis. Find more here.

One killed after Singapore Airlines flight hit with severe turbulence | One person has died aboard a London-Singapore flight that encountered severe turbulence, Singapore Airlines said Tuesday, in which the plane apparently plummeted for a number of minutes before it was diverted to Bangkok, where emergency crews rushed to help injured passengers amid stormy weather. Unrelenting storm system heads to Midwest with damaging winds and possible tornadoes | Destructive hail, winds and a few tornadoes could thrash communities in parts of the Midwest Tuesday as a relentless storm system continues to tear a path across the U.S. this week. More than 22 million people across the region are under an enhanced, or Level 3 or 5, severe weather threat Tuesday, the Storm Prediction Center said. Storms are expected to reach their peak strength during the afternoon and carry into Tuesday night. Find more here.
Reported sex assaults in the US military have dropped. That reverses what had been a growing problem | The number of reported sexual assaults across the military decreased last year, and a confidential survey found a 19% drop in the number of service members who said they had experienced some type of unwanted sexual contact, according to new figures obtained by The Associated Press. TODAY'S WEATHER OUTLOOK
The spring swing continues this week for Northern California as temperatures will rise before they drop back down in time for the weekend. Meteorologist Tamara Berg said Tuesday morning is starting off similar to Monday with clear skies before sunny skies.
There will also be a north breeze contributing toward the warming trend. Tuesday's peak is expected to be in the upper 80s. A few spots in the Sacramento Valley may hit 90 degrees, Berg said. Find more here.
HAPPENING TODAY
8 a.m. | Placer County leaders will vote on a plan to expand affordable housing. The Board of Supervisors will look to rezone 19 properties to develop multi-family units.
3 p.m. | The man accused of stealing a Sacramento Fire Department pickup truck and leading law enforcement on a chase will be in court. Desi Sanchez, 32, is facing four felonies in connection with stealing the truck from Station 12.
