Shankaracharya Jayanti 2024: Significance
Shankaracharya Jayanti has its great religious significance in Hindu religion. This day marks the 1236th Birth Anniversary of Adi Shankaracharya. He is known as Indian Guru in Hindu religion. He was also philosopher in Sanatan Dharma. He preached about the Vedic knowledge Advaita Vedanta that influenced Hindu religion. Adi Shankaracharya was born in small village of Kerala named Kaldi.
He was born to Aryamba and father Sivaguru. He is regarded a one of the greatest Gurus and philosophers in Indian mythology. He also preached about the Parmatma, Atma, Vairagya and Moksha. He always gave knowledge about our Vedas and Upanishads. It is also believed that Adi Guru Shankaracharya ji lived a short span of life.
The Panchkayatna system of worship, which involves honouring the five deities (Lord Shiva, Goddess, Lord Vishnu, Lord Surya, and Lord Ganesha), was first presented by Shankaracharya. He is said to have been an expert in the Vedas at the age of sixteen. He is the author of numerous books, stotrams, and scriptures.

As per Hindu Scriptures, once upon a time, people were devoid of holiness and spirituality, and all the gods made the decision to go to Lord Shiva for assistance. Lord Shiva promised these deities that he would take on the form of Adi Shankaracharya, who would inspire people to pursue spirituality and enlighten them with the ultimate truth of life. Guru Adi Shankaracharya was born to help people emerge from this darkness and to impart many Hindu religious teachings.
Adi Shankaracharya Jayanti 2024: History
In order to raise knowledge of religion and spirituality, Guru Adi Shankaracharya established four maths in each of the four directions. These four matths are known as - Kalika Math, Govardhan Math, Sharda Math and Jyotir Math.
After founding four Maths, he chose his closest and most devoted followers to lead each Math and manage it in a way that would best serve the interests of Hindus. He tasked them with disseminating information about the Vedas, Upnishads, and other sacred texts. The following Vedas provide as the foundation for Sanatana Dharma and these matths have been instrumental in promoting awareness of Vedic culture: Rigveda, Yajurveda, Samaveda and Atharvaveda.
