WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — Awards galore were collected by several local high schools as they took center stage at the UIL State One Act Play 1A competition.

After a full day of performances on Monday, May 13 in Austin, Benjamin and Gold-Burg High Schools claimed big-time victories at the state competition.

Benjamin High School students came home with a silver medal as the First Runner Up for their play, “The Ballad of Maria Marten.”

Student Kamryn Jones was awarded Best Performer for the role of Maria Marten, student Emily Shaver received an All-Star Cast award for the role of Ann Martin, and student Electra Estrada received an Honorable Mention All-Star Cast award for the role of Sarah Stowe.

Gold-Burg ISD claimed notable recognition at the state competition as well for its play, “Interview.”

Student Levi Hellinger received an All-Star Cast award for the roles of Second Interviewer, Gym Instructor and Purple, and student Corbin Gilbert received an Honorable Mention All-Star Cast award for the roles of First Applicant, House Painter and Red.
