Three juveniles, one adult arrested for Kinston shooting incident

On Tuesday, May 14, 2024, Officers from the Kinston Police Department located the suspect vehicle involved in the shooting from Monday night’s incident. A 16-year-old female juvenile was placed into custody for her involvement in the case. Also on Tuesday, officers placed two more juvenile suspects in custody for their involvement in the case (a 17-year-old male and a 15-year-old male). A fourth suspect in the case, Nas Whitfield (19-year-old male), was arrested for his involvement in the case. Whitfield was placed in the Lenoir County Detention Center under a secured bond and the three juveniles, with the assistance from North Carolina Department of Public Safety Juvenile Services were both placed in secure custody. This case is still under investigation.

· 3 counts of Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury · Accessory After the Fact - Felony 

17-year-old male juvenile 

· 3 counts of Attempted First Degree Murder 

· 3 counts of Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury · Discharge a Firearm in City Limits 

15-year-old male juvenile 

· 3 counts of Attempted First Degree Murder 

· 3 counts of Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury · Discharge a Firearm in City Limits 

Nas Whitfield – 19 years old 

· 3 counts of Attempted First Degree Murder 

· 3 counts of Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury · Discharge a Firearm in City Limits 

Original Release: 

On Monday, May 13, 2024, at approximately 9:20 p.m., members of the Kinston Police Department responded to a report of individuals that have been shot near the 300 block of S. Davis St. in Richard Green Housing Complex. Upon arrival officers located two female juveniles ages 13 and 15 suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to ECU Medical Center, where they remain in stable condition. While detectives were at the scene investigating, they were called to UNC Lenoir Hospital, where a third victim had arrived and was seeking treatment. The third victim was identified as Rayshon Aytch, 20, of Kinston. 

This case is currently under investigation and additional details will follow at a later date.
