A St Louis legend is lost: David Sanborn loses fight with cancer
Between his own albums and guest appearances, he’s all over my record collection. A sound all his own, sweet, melodic and full of punch. Rock and jazz lost a great one today
I’ve had (Bowie’s) Young Americans on repeat since I heard the news I’m surprised how many people don’t know Sanborn played the epic sax in that song.
He also toured with Bowie in the 70s. You can hear him on the David Live concert album.
Letterman posted a nice tribute https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KY-UNDCLQbI
Thanks for that video!
Bummer...RIP David. Great player
Listening to him right now. Great player!
It was a draw (RIP to him and Norm).
Anytime there can be a Norm reference it is a win.
My wife and I just heard him talking about his early career in February at the swing for tomorrow's stars gala. You could tell how much he loved and lived music just hearing him talk.
I got into his music in '86. Legend.
