William Wallace Whitman OBITUARY

Whitman, William “Bill” Wallace, 81, of Pompano Beach, FL and Chimney Rock, NC; passed away Saturday June 21, 2014. Beloved husband of the late Karen, cherished father of three sons: Jason Whitman (Erin), Scott Whitman (Colleen), and Bill Whitman, Jr.; and three daughters: Deborah Smaling (Thomas), Wendy Cabay (late Randall), and Marlene Davis, and 14 grandchildren: Riley, Lindsay, Luke, Scott, Nicole, Daniel, Josh, Ashli, Tyler, Patrick, Ashley, Bradley, Allison, and Katrin. During his professional career, he was chairman of the Pompano Beach Planning & Zoning Board, an accomplished urban planner, and Vice President for Coral Ridge Properties until taking early retirement at age 62. After retirement, he worked as the Village Clerk and Zoning Administrator for Chimney Rock Village in North Carolina until his passing. Dad, you taught us the love of a father. In your arms we were always safe. You taught us selflessness. To you we are forever grateful. We love you and will miss you dearly. Bill’s Florida residence will be will open from 3pm to 7pm on Saturday, July 5th. Our family welcomes our friends and loved ones to gather with us for a Celebration of Life in remembrance of the countless happy memories we have all shared.
