Michelle Greenidge stars as Carla in the brand new series of Doctor Who which premieres with a double bill on Saturday night from 6.20pm on BBC One

The first episode in the brand new series of Doctor Who premieres this Saturday night at 6.20pm on BBC One.  The episode entitled 'Space Babies' sees the Doctor travelling to the far future. This will be immediately followed at 7.05pm by the second episode, 'The Devil's Chord', which takes him back to the 1960s where he meets The Beatles.

This is the 14th series of the much loved, long-running BBC drama and sees a brand new Doctor in the shape of Ncuti Gatwa, best known for his role in Sex Education.  The series also sees a new sidekick, Ruby Sunday (played by Millie Gibson).  Ruby's adoptive mum Carla is to be played by our very own Michelle Greenidge.

The show's official synopsis reads, "Within the upcoming series, audiences will see the Doctor and Ruby travel through time and space on adventures to unknown lands, to the Regency era in England, to outer space worlds and the sixties".

In a recent interview Michelle talked about her excitement about working again with show runner Russell T. Davies, who she previously worked with on It's A Sin, saying, "He is just an incredible talent – the scripts are just so enthralling, you can really become immersed in all of the characters. He's so great at writing the story arcs and everything is so tightly-written...The word is overused, but Russell, he is genuinely a genius. Any show that Russell's involved with, you're lucky to be involved with – it’s a blessing."

In a BBC first, both episodes will be available on BBC iPlayer from midnight on 11th May, ahead of the BBC One broadcast later that evening. The BBC has also done a deal with Disney+ which will become the home of Doctor Who outside of the UK and Ireland with both episodes available worldwide from midnight too.
