Generative AI in Search

Google said in its blog post that it was integrating Gemini into search, enhancing its ability to understand and respond to complex queries.

This includes features like AI Overview, designed for advanced multi-step reasoning, planning, and multimodal capabilities.

“This enhancement ensures that people can ask intricate, multi-step questions, tailor their search outcomes, and interact using videos for an enriched query experience. This is set to launch soon, starting in the US before expanding globally,” it stated.

Another feature is this multi-step reasoning, which breaks down complex questions into smaller parts, synthesizes the most relevant information, and stitches it all together into a comprehensive AI answer.

Finally, there is the search with video feature, which allows users to ask questions about video content by taking a quick video and getting AI-powered answers in response.

Gemini for Android

Google’s Gemini AI technology is being seamlessly integrated into Android to revolutionize various features and enhance the user experience. Some exciting updates include:

Circle to Search: This innovative feature allows users to search for anything on their screen, expanding to Chrome desktops and tablets.

Enhanced TalkBack: Gemini Nano will upgrade Android’s screen reader with new features, making it easier for visually impaired individuals to navigate and access information. This will initially be available on Pixel devices later this year.

Live Scam Detection: Gemini Nano will detect scam phone calls in real-time, providing users with warnings and protecting them from fraud. This feature will also debut on Pixel devices later this year.

Gemini as an Assistant on Android: This AI assistant will offer contextual suggestions and anticipate user actions based on the current app screen, streamlining interactions. This feature will be available on devices with Android 10+ and 2GB+ RAM, where the Gemini app is already accessible.

Gemini for Workspace

This tool helps businesses and everyday users get more out of their Google apps, from drafting emails in Gmail to organising project plans in Sheets.

“Over the last year, more than a million people and tens of thousands of companies have used generative AI in Workspace when they need an extra hand or dose of inspiration. Today, Google announced more updates across Gemini for Workspace, including new Gemini in Gmail features on mobile and additional language support,” Google stated.

Gemini for Workspace

Imagine having a personal assistant that helps you power through your workday. That is what Gemini is all about. And now, it is getting even better.

Gemini 1.5 Pro is available to Workspace Labs and Gemini for Workspace Alpha users, with general availability coming next month to Gemini for Workspace customers and Google One AI Premium subscribers. This new model has a longer context window and advanced reasoning, giving you more insightful responses.

But that is not all. With Gemini Advanced, you will soon get access to Live, a mobile conversational experience that lets you talk to Gemini in a natural, intuitive way. Choose from different voices, speak at your own pace, and even interrupt with questions.

And if you use Gmail, you will love the new features coming your way. Gemini will start suggesting detailed draft email responses that you can edit or send with just a click.

You will also get summaries of email threads, so you can quickly see what’s important. And when you need help, just click the Gemini icon and ask it to summarise an email, list the next steps, or suggest a reply.

Ask Photos

Google Photos is getting a new feature called “Ask Photos,” which uses Gemini to answer questions about photos and videos, such as finding specific images or recalling past events. This feature will be available beginning in the US and rolling out to other countries soon.
