Irish actress Máiréad Tyers will be joined on screen by Gavin and Stacey actor Rob Brydon for a new alternate history drama.
My Lady Jane is a new eight-episode series that will be released on Amazon Prime Video on June 27.
The romantic period drama is based off the best-selling book series by Cynthia Hand, which is in turn loosely derived from the tragic real life story of Lady Jane Grey, known as the 'nine day queen'.
It is described as a retelling of royal history, where King Henry VIII’s son Edward does not die of tuberculosis, Lady Jane Grey is not beheaded in 1553, and neither is her husband Guildford.
American actress Emily Bader will play Jane Grey, the shows namesake character.
The official series synopsis describes the series as 'swashbucking', saying at its centre 'is the brilliant and headstrong Jane, who is shocked to be crowned queen and finds herself the target of nefarious villains coming for the crown (and her head), My Lady Jane is an epic tale of true love and high adventure'.
Máiréad, 25, who was recently nominated for a BAFTA for her work on Disney plus series Extraordinary will play Susanna in the series. The Cork native also appeared in Belfast as Auntie Eileen in 2021.
Rob Brydon, 59, who plays the iconic role of Uncle Bryn on Gavin and Stacey, plays the role of Guilford's scheming father, Lord Dudley.
The series comes as a final Christmas Gavin and Stacey episode is set to hit our screens at the end of this year. It is currently unclear whether Bryn will make an appearance, though he was front and centre during the last Christmas episode, five years ago.
Between that and this new period drama, we will have plenty of episodes to binge!
