Police provided an update to the serious car accident that occurred near Stegen on Sunday morning, with the injured driver extricated from the vehicle and receiving emergency first aid at the scene.

The CGDIS reported that firefighters had to rescue two injured individuals from a car that had fallen into a ravine in Stegen. The incident took place around 6:45pm on the road between Diekirch and Stegen, a village in the commune of the Ernz Valley.

According to police, the car was "thrown several metres into a forest." Emergency services extricated the seriously injured driver from the vehicle, administered first aid at the scene, and then transported her to the emergency room. The passenger, who sustained minor injuries, was also taken to the hospital for examination.

Both injured individuals were evacuated to the emergency room by Nordstad ambulances. The SAMU and rescuers from Nordstad, Ettelbruck, and Bettendorf also responded to the scene.

It is still unclear what led to the car coming off the road.
