Track and field roundup: Minnewaska girls win West Central Conference title

Elsewhere, Ashby-Brandon-Evansville, Parkers Prairie, and West Central Area also competed in conference championships.

The Minnewaska track and field teams competed at the West Central Conference Championships in Morris on Monday and the Laker girls won the WCC title with 168 points. The boys placed third with 103 points; Montevideo won the boys' meet with 171 points.

On the boys' side, three Lakers earned individual all-conference honors: Asante Adams (100m, 2nd), Maeson Tank (400m, 1st), and Owen Meulebroeck (300m hurdles, 1st; triple jump, 2nd).

Tank and Meulebroeck were also part of two all-conference relays. The 4x200 team with Carter Meyer and Kaiden Harvey placed first, and the 4x400 team with Carter Dinsmore and Jayce Kovarik placed first, as well.

The 4x800 team with Luke Hoffman, Josh Hippe, Kovarik, and Dinsmore placed third for an honorable mention, and Harvey placed third in the triple jump for an honorable mention.

On the girls' side, eight Lakers earned individual all-conference honors: Dacia Fleury (100m, 1st), Ella Larson (800m, 1st), Maia Larson (1600m, 1st), Sydney Ankeny (3200m, 2nd), Lauryn Ankeny (300m hurdles, 2nd), Jayda Kolstoe (shot put, 1st; discus, 2nd), Melena Longtin (discus, 1st), and Lyla Stadtherr (high jump, 2nd).

Fleury, Ella Larson, and Lauryn Ankeny were also part of the 4x400 team that placed second for all-conference honor alongside Alia Randt, and Randt, Ella Larson, and Lauryn Ankeny were also part of the 4x800 team that placed first for all-conference honors alongside Olivia Danielson.

Fleury earned honorable mention for a third-place finish in the 200m, and Jillian Deutsch did the same in the high jump.

The WCA teams were also at the WCC championship. The boys placed eighth with 14.33 points, and the girls placed sixth with 55 points.

Carter Kjesbo earned all-conference in the boys' 1600m with a second-place finsish.

On the girls side Keira Gehrke (100m, 2nd), Maci Robinson (shot put, 2nd), and Terina Blascyk all earned all-conference honors.

A-B-E teams place second in Little Eight Conference

The Ashby-Brandon-Evansville track and field teams placed second at the Little Eight Conference Championship in Wheaton on May 14.

The boys finished with 137.5 points, behind only Border West (176), and the girls finished with 177 points, behind only Border West (189).

On the boys side, Darius Grussing, Cole Johnson, Cohen Reiland, and Benjamin Myron earned all-conference honors for a top finish in the 4x800 relay.

Micah Fuller (110m hurdles), August Bredberg (300m hurdles), and Stephen Hamilton (200m, shot put) earned honorable mention for second-place finishes. The trio was also part of a team that finished second in the 4x400 along with Kenneth Spielman.

On the girls side Lucea Wales (100m, 100m hurdles, 300m hurdles, long jump) earned all-conference honors with victories in four events, and Taylor Dingwall won the high jump for the all-conference nod.

Courtney Paulson (400m), Lauren Thoennes (3200m), and Dingwall (100m hurdles, 300m hurdles, pole vault) all earned honorable mention for second-place finishes.

Parkers Prairie teams compete in Park Region Conference Championship

The Parkers Prairie track and field teams competed at the Park Region Conference Championship in Pillager on May 14.

The Parkers Prairie boys placed fifth with 42 points; Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale won the title with 156. The Parkers Prairie girls placed sixth with 62 points; Ottertail Central won the title with 111.

On the boys' side, Nathan Dailey's second-place finish in the 100m earned him an all-conference honor.

On the girls' side, Dakota Moske earned all-conference for first-place finishes in the discus and shot put. Sarah Toyli earned all-conference honors for second-place finishes in the long jump and triple jump.
