This year's Queen Street Cruise won't include only vintage cars, like these from the 2023 event.

The Queen Street Cruise will take a step into the future this year as well as its traditional showcasing of vintage vehicles.

Local EV owners will display their electric and hybrid rides for the first time in a show that "will merge the timeless allure of vintage cars with the future of EVs as society transitions to a more sustainable era of mobility,” says Queen Street Cruise co-chair Gary Trembinski.

The full news release below explains all the details:

The City of Sault Ste. Marie, PUC Services Inc. (PUC) and the Sault Climate Hub announce the second annual Sault Ste. Marie Electric Vehicle (EV) showcase, this year in partnership with the Queen Street Cruise in Downtown Sault Ste. Marie on June 14, 15.

As part of the Queen Street Cruise, local EV owners, including area businesses with EVs will display their vehicles including plug-in-hybrids. The PUC will be on site with their EV fleet to share their knowledge and explain how the EV Home Charger Rental Program works. Visitors to the EV showcase will be entered into a draw to win a prize pack.

Local EV owners are welcome to be a part of the EV showcase. Complete the showcase exhibitor form at the following link by Friday, May 24. Registration is open to all EV owners, regardless of make and model. Space is limited, so early registration is encouraged.

“The Queen Street Cruise is excited to integrate the EV showcase this year,” said Gary Trembinski, Co-Chair of the Queen Street Cruise. “This year’s car show will merge the timeless allure of vintage cars with the future of EVs as society transitions to a more sustainable era of mobility.”

“We are thrilled to host this year's EV showcase as part of the Queen Street cruise,” said Emily Cormier, Sustainability Coordinator at the City of Sault Ste. Marie. “Join us for this exciting event and also kick off the summer season.”

“PUC is happy to be joining local partners to increase public awareness of the benefits of electric vehicles,” stated Robert Brewer, President & CEO, PUC Services Inc. “As PUC makes major strides to electrify our fleet, we strongly believe that together we can drive towards a cleaner, greener future for our community.”

"Showcasing electric vehicles as part of the Queen Street Cruise in collaboration with community partners is an opportunity to support the transformative change needed to support electric mobility,” said Ted McPherson from the Sault Climate Hub. “Working together amplifies our messaging and supports the need for collective climate action."
