Having been “snake bitten” the last couple of weeks when it comes to “lighting the lamp,” Kamloops product Logan Stankoven became a standout in the National Hockey League playoffs on Saturday night.
Stankoven scored a pair of goals, including the first playoff marker of his NHL career, to give the visiting Dallas Stars a 4-1 win over the Colorado Avalanche in the NHL Western Conference Semi-Finals.
The two goals, including an empty netter at the end of the game, gives the Stars a 2-1 series advantage over the Avalanche in their Best of Seven series with Colorado.
Stankoven and Dallas came into Game 3 with the series tied at 1, after an overtime loss in Game 2 at home in Dallas.
There were a number of chances for both sides in the first period.
However, it was Stankoven opening up the scoring with 1:21 left in the 1st to give Dallas the 1-0 lead.

Stankoven would then cap the game off with an empty netter late in the 3rd to give the Dallas Stars the eventual 4-1 win and the 2-1 series lead.

The Kamloops native and Blazers product now has 2 goals and 2 assists in the playoffs since joining the team from the AHL affiliate Texas Stars — where he was named the AHL Rookie of the Year — despite not completing his 1st year professional campaign in the American Hockey League.
Stankoven and the Stars will play Game 4 in Denver on Monday.
