RV body shop mechanic nearish to middle Tennessee?
I have found RV shops but what I'm struggling to find is a shop that can fit me in relatively soon, won't completely rip me off and is within 90 mins of me.
I'm about 90 minutes from Nashville, bowling Green, Knoxville. 2 hrs from Louisville and Chattanooga.
I need the roof resealed and I need to have a door lock cut off. I do it myself but I lack the tools and because of an injury it's hard for me to get up on the roof. If anyone has a recommendation that's helpful I would love to hear it.
All those projects should cost a few thousand dollars if you want them done correctly. That "little bit" of dryrot is waaaay more than you think it is once you pull the panel off.
100% you get what you pay for here.
Why? What part of the project is costing that much?
Oh, the dry rot, all day. There is way more damage than you can see now.
Even if it's a spot smaller than the palm of my hand? I think I'm just going to treat it myself with git rot.
You do you.
I'm just saying the labor hour quotes you're getting aren't unreasonable.
"have a door lock cut off" I don't know what you are doing but why would you need to cut it off. Locksmiths will come to you and re-key any lock.
Just how bad is the roof? It's not hard to reseal depending on the damage.
I got up there as much as I could and I just don't see any damage from the outside so I'm thinking it's a small leak. We were in Florida during a hurricane a year ago and I think the high winds just lifted the seal the least little bit.
The hatch door is like a handle with a key and something has gotten disconnected inside of it but several attempts to drill through the lock have not been successful. I've already purchased a new handle that's been keyed from Winnebago. I had two recommendations by professionals that it would need to just be cut out. I just don't have the tools for that. I purchased a drill bit to try to drill through the lock and it broke the drill so I don't want to continue to attempt with my gear. I think it would be a relatively quick fix with the right tools
It's an older vehicle. I don't want a tacky solution But I'm not trying to make a 20-year-old rig new.
I resealed mine last year. The hardest part was scraping off the old lap sealant.
Locks are usually accessible from the inside. Start removing screws and it should fall apart. The locksmith in my town would have it apart in no time.
I have an injury that prevents me from doing the roof myself and trust me we tried everything with a lot. There's even a spray you can sit on there. It's supposed to dissolve sediments so that the lock falls apart but it's just not
