- WNBA. Angel Reese graduates from LSU, claps back at haters with style
Angel Reese has always shared a competitive bond with her brother, Julian Reese. Growing up in Baltimore, Maryland, the siblings played basketball together at Saint Frances Academy, fostering their skills and sibling rivalry.
Julian, born on June 30, 2003, just over a year after Angel, shares parents Michael Reese and Angel Webb Reese with his sister. The two have been close from a young age, constantly challenging each other on the court. Despite not being born in Baltimore, both siblings attended school there, playing for Saint Frances Academy.
Inspired by his sister
Angel began her college basketball career at the University of Maryland before transferring to LSU. Julian, inspired by his sister, committed to Maryland a year later.
On Mother's Day 2020, Julian revealed his decision in a special way, presenting their mom with a sweatshirt bearing a picture of him and Angel at Maryland, with "committed" on the back.
"It meant a lot to me," Julian told the Baltimore Sun at the time.
"I felt like that was [my mom's] top pick too, so I feel like that would have been a good surprise for Mother's Day."
Julian, now a forward at the University of Maryland, has played three seasons with the team, starting from his freshman year.
He has distinguished himself as a formidable defensive player, significantly boosting Maryland's defensive performance.
"He knows our drop coverage really well," Coach Kevin Willard told The Diamondback in March 2024.
"He's a smart basketball player. So it makes life on everybody else a little bit easier.
"And he's 6-foot-10, he's physical, and he throws his body around, which really helps in this league."
