Alan S’s 1969 Camaro

Built From The Ground Up

Alan S’s 1969 Camaro

The second car Alan ever bought was a 1968 Camaro SS/RS which he purchased in 1972. Alan owned that car for 9 years and because it was not practical for his and his wife’s daily use, he sold it. His wife always felt bad about that.

Many years later approaching his 50th birthday, Alan was always looking at vehicles for sale on eBay, particularly Camaros and mostly 1969s. Unbeknownst to him, after finding a very nice 1969 Camaro on eBay, his wife contacted the owner. Then she went and looked at the car. She knew what to look for after many years of going to car shows with him and his street rod. She made a deal with the owner, got her own financing, and purchased the car.

One day his wife took Alan out of work and drove him to where the car was. Not knowing what she was doing until she turned into a residential development, and there was this beautiful 1969 Camaro sitting in a driveway. He looked at her and said “You didn’t”, but she had!

There is lots of sentimental value in this car based on that story Alan says. His wife also made what she jokingly says was the biggest mistake of her life. As she told him whatever he wants to do to the car, he can!

The engine is a custom-built 427 small block with a Quickfuel 600 carburetor, ported and polished aluminum heads, and 400 Motown block. It also has an aluminum radiator, a Tremec TKO 5 speed, Hotchkis TVS suspension, QA1 shocks, CPP disk brake conversion, Foose wheels, stainless 2 ½ exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers, and TMI interior, which came from SS396.com.

Alan’s future plans call for an upgrade to fuel injection, some more suspension/shock mods, some engine bay details, and maybe some new gauges and a trunk kit.

Alan says he has always been a car nut and enjoys going to shows and seeing and talking to other people about their cars, or cars in general. Some of his best friends in life have come through the car hobby. He has so many good memories from years of attending various shows.

"Never an issue when ordering from these guys!"
