Movie Review " Dead Poet Society "

By Safiya Roberts for Happy Bay News

Set in 1959 at an elite all boys prep school, Dead Poets Society follows the arrival of a new English teacher, Mr Keating, played by the legendary Robin Williams. With his unconventional methods and real passion for what he's teaching, Mr Keating breathes new life into the minds of his students, teaching them to seize the day and think for themselves.

One of the coolest things about this film is how it tackles some very deep and emotional stuff while still keeping you hooked with its humour and warmth. From dealing with parents' expectations to questioning authority, the struggles of these 16-17 year old students feel super relatable, even decades later, making this film a timeless classic.

In my opinion this is one of Robin Williams best and most iconic performances, his portrayal of Mr Keating has and will continue to inspire people to seize the day and make their lives extraordinary! Mr Keating is the teacher that everyone wishes they could have, he inspires his students to think outside the box and chase their dreams, no matter what anyone else says.

If you’re into cinematography, and films with beautiful scenery and artistic shots, this is an amazing one to add to your watchlist. The way they use light and atmosphere to show the emotions of a scene is incredible.

Just a warning, I can’t get through this film without crying, so make sure you’re prepared with a box of tissues!

This movie is one of my all time favourites and will stick with me for the rest of my life, it's definitely worth the watch!
Carpe Diem!
