Carmi Police Arrest Two Monday

A Norris City woman who ran out of gas Monday morning ended up getting booked for driving on a revoked license.  Carmi officers pulled over to assist 47 year old Jena Davis around 9:17am at the corner of Stewart and 3rd.  At that time, the officer learned Davis was driving without proper credentials and subsequently arrested her for Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Revoked License.  She was booked and released on a Notice to Appear.  Cherry Street Automotive was called in to impound the truck.

Just before 9pm Monday, Carmi Police were called to 708 Burrell in reference to an active domestic dispute at the residence.  After talking to the parties involved, law enforcement placed 42 year old Charles Scott in custody and charged him with Aggravated Domestic Battery.  Scott is behind bars at the White County Jail awaiting an appearance before a judge.

I didn’t know that running out of gas was a crime. What gave the police authority to arrest someone or ask for your driver license just because a car ran out of gas? People’s rights are being violated and you people are allowing the police to use whatever means they want to haul anyone they want to jail . Cops are looking for the employee of the month sticker.

What I was thinking if they were trying to help her , poor lady now has to pay ungodly fines and fees and crazy a** amounts of money for a tow bill , if she has the money to get it out , if she doesn’t then probably cost 60-70$ a DAY to just sit there until she gets the money or has to let it go because she probably doesn’t and won’t 🥺😔

Absolutely! Instead of a**isting the person, and maybe a reminder? Is there a quota or a bonus if you obtain an arrest? It’s a money maker. Then here we go with court appearances. But there are those that they choose to look the other way. Their bad a** kids going 50 in a 30 in hot rod cars. Smh

Well for 1 thing, I know that young lady & she is a VERY good person!! She’s going through a rough time & was trying to get to work, well that didn’t happen 😕. She had someone bringing her gas, she hadn’t been drinking/drugs!!! H*** sometimes people need a break in life!! Actually she didn’t even know her license was revoked, but she is looking into it. The thing is she was out of gas,THAT’S NOT ILLEGAL!!! SHE WAS NOT ACTING STUPID SO WHY EVEN ASK FOR HER DRIVER’S LICENSE??? I know, because that is how ILLINOIS COPS ARE!!!!!

Well, SHE STILL COULDN’T DRIVE WITHOUT A LICENSE. BUT THE COP SHOULD OF ASK HER WHY SHE WAS NOT UP TO DATE, ONN HER LICENSE AND MAYBE TOOK HER TO WORK. LEAVE THE CAR SIT THERE.pick up later.

Unfortunately for her, no matter how nice, or how sweet, or even if she was the best person EVER, the law is the law. The cops are just doing their job.
