Heartstopper fans have been left ‘screaming and crying’ after getting news on the upcoming third season.

The coming-of-age romantic drama series based on webcomic of the same name by Alice Oseman  tells the story of Charlie Spring (Joe Locke), a gay schoolboy who falls in love with classmate Nick Nelson (Kit Connor).

The first season was released in 2022, with the second coming a year later.

A third was confirmed soon after the original seasons’ release after it proved a massive hit for Netflix.

Although it was previously announced new episodes were going to hit screens later this year, the streaming service has now revealed they’ll be arriving on October 3.

In a clip shared by Netflix, Charlie debates whether to tell his boyfriend Nick that he loves him, with the video also featuring a snippet of Billie Eilish’s new song, Birds of a Feather.

Up Next

In the minute-long teaser, Charlie is seen rehearsing how to drop the L-bomb, before he is advised by sister Tori (Jenny Walser) to not waste any more time and share how he feels.

He then races out the house when Nick arrives to pick him up for a date, with the air date then revealed.

Getting the news and a first look clip unsurprisingly sparked a massive reaction from fans, who quickly shared their excitement on social media.

‘Omg omg omg! Squealing, kicking my feet so excited,’ Jenni posted on X.

‘Where is my F***ING INHALER,’ Emmy shared.

Please excuse me but this will be my entire personality in October and no I’m not sorry,’ Skye added.

As Tom declared, the date should now be ‘an international holiday’, referencing the fact October 3 was also mentioned in the cult classic film Mean Girls.

This season will see many cast members return, including Yasmin Finney (Elle), William Gao (Tao), Tobie Donovan (Isaac), Corinna Brown (Tara), Kizzy Edgell (Darcy), Rhea Norwood (Imogen), and Jenny Walser (Tori).

Bridgerton’s Jonathan Bailey has also been cast as Jack Maddox, an Instagram-famous author and Charlie’s celebrity crush.

Meanwhile Hayley Atwell will play Nick’s aunt, who takes him on holiday to Menorca and gives him some sage advice about his relationship with Charlie, while Eddie Marsen will star as Charlie’s ‘wise and straight-talking’ therapist, Geoff.

Heartstopper is streaming on Netflix.
