yeah i watched it yesterday and it still holds up. weirdly enough, it's amazing as background noise too.
It's often very funny which is obviously the most imporant things for a comedy but its attempts at more complex storytelling in the last two seasons are aimless flops.

It's amusing that Paula is clearly the "loser" of the divorce, with her ex-husband clearly more in control of his life, richer, and marrying a younger, much more attractive woman as his second wife. It's even funnier with the implication that Paula's second baby is a bastard although I think they chickend out on that and said she was adopted which doesn't make much sense.
I thought Josie was adopted, the implication is more she was meant to save her marriage with Louis CK but the guy just went full deadbeat.
That seems like more of a leap than the alternative. Since when did the show depict him as a deadbeat?
If I recall correctly the writers didn't choose to include him at all except one scene where he called on the phone to talk to Brendon until the season where he became a recurring character (and then disapeared, probably because they failed to have further ideas).
I'm pretty sure the fact he barely calls his kid for long periods of time. Brendan has big time abandonment issues and he's just comfortable peacing out again.

i wouldnt say paula is hot but she is pretty chill and for me that goes a long way more than looks especially if youre not that good looking to begin with. i always figured when it came to mcguirk and paula it would just be a convenient relashionship more than anything. mcguirk has already impressed her with how he takes cares of the kids and paula likes him enough and has a vegana. the only thing left is to make it official.
